Fixed the templates...but getting them into cvs is another matter. - WinCVS - got bods out ok - puttygen public/private key - upload public key - hang ten - pageant - ssh login with private key - commit file - cvs [server aborted]: "commit" requires write access to the repository I'll see Atif tomorrow. Just as side point, if you use an IDE I would recommend using that IDEs plugin if it has one as it allows a much smoother workflow. Eclipse, IDEA, Netbeans all have reasonable CVS support I believe. > I'll see Atif tomorrow. You seem to have been added to the bodington sourceforge project as a developer so you should have CVS access. However it seems like the file CVSROOT/avail hasn't been updated to grant you access to the bodington project. One of the project admins should be able to add you to the right line of this file tomorrow. -- +--Matthew Buckett-----------------------------------------+ | VLE Developer, Learning Technologies Group | | Tel: +44 (0) 1865 283660 http://www.oucs.ox.ac.uk/ | +------------Computing Services, University of Oxford------+ |

I used to use JBuilder8. Although it had good integration for MS Visual SourceSafe, I found it a bit crap with CVS. I started using Eclipse purely for it's CVS integration (which I think is great) and subsequently moved across altogether... Colin PS: I also tried WinCVS, as Jon was using that, but didn't get on with that at all. Use Eclipse -- you'll get lots of help from us at Oxford if you need it. (OK, if Matthew and Alexis don't, I will...) CVS integration in NetBeans (and therefore Java Studio Creator, etc) is crummy, although I believe they are working on a new CVS module. As an aside, I'd say that TortoiseCVS is a simpler better integrated client than WinCVS. Alexis |

CVS with Eclipse is indeed very, very good. With some help from Atif I managed to commit the changes to the template files and the corresponding properties files with no problems at all. JBuilder and I have been together now for for-ty years an' it don't seem a day too lo-ng, but... I received a query from an academic at Manchester about the state of the applet menus tool and grumbling about how it requires Java 1.4. Is this tool now gone in the new Bods - is there some equivalent in Easybuilder? There used to be a ridiculously strict requirement for a JDK v1.4.0 on the client side and dependancy on a crimson XML parser. Since bodington v2.4.0 these dependancies have both gone; for example you can use it with JDK 1.5 (and it's internal Xerces parser). The applet itself hasn't been improved. It's still experimental, but it does work (in a roundabout fashion!). If by any chance you're building Bodington from scratch you need to sign the applet for it to work, i.e. comment out skip.applet.sign in your build.properties, if using the build.xml. Alexis |

Dunno if this is what you were thinking of with regard to functionality in EasyBuilder that's a bit like the applet, but EasyBuilder allows you to upload a file and automatically create a QuickLink to it. This means you can: - sort the uploaded file in the resource menu, along with other resources (as it's actually the QuickLink that you're sorting). - provide a title and description of the uploaded file. - hide the uploaded file, so that you don't see the silly display at the bottom of the page. - add timed release, so that file/link is only available during a specific window. (The QuickLink, timed release and EasyBuilder bits are all scheduled to be in 2.6). I forgot that I always blank out the sign applets bit. This person is getting the java 1.4 requirement on wunlearn.leeds.ac.uk, the version number of which I am higgerant. I'll say that the problem will disappear in new shiny bods.
