Many apps use this as a short interval timer...could
explain a lot of mysterious app hangs.

See enclosed test case. Compile with Turbo/Borland
C/C++.

Do you use Bochs version 2.1.1 or latest CVS sources?
Bochs 2.1.1 doesn't use the diskette motor countdown byte,
so your test will always fail. It should work with Bochs
from CVS. Can you confirm that?
