wxPython-2.3.3pre3 fixes this problem, I've just checked in a change 
to ChildProcessClient.py that makes use of this fix.
The Show/Hide/Show stub should no longer be necessary if you are 
running wxPython-2.3.3pre3 and updated from CVS.
