It would have been a horrid thing to see, for instance, a "Visual Basic" clone using Python. (VB is evil. "VB-only" programmers are either under some kind of evil spell, or suffering from brain damage. Enough said.) Now, on the other hand, if you think it should be more like a Java IDE, it seems to me that most of the better Java IDEs have stolen the "Delphi" component pallette style of IDE also.
