Hi, BTW, which one is your first name? ianaré or sévi, and another curiosity question what language are they in? ianaré sévi wrote: > Boa Devs, > > I started with the most annoying one to me, the find/replace dialog. > ... > A function was created to correctly resize the statictexts so they all > have the same length, and nothing gets cut off. Why do you need a function for this? Sizers should be able to deal with this, at least they do for my application. Werner |

For a moment you got me going, I wondered why Toni (author of RepMan) would think there has been no activity:) http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/?group_id=51737&ugn=reportman I never look at the sourceforge project home page as it seems that dates on there do not get updated. Check the above link or check the download section, but even here you have to watch out, e.g. RepMan 2.6 has a 2006-06-04, however some of the sub-releases are much more recent. Werner |

BTW, I remove them because > if I use (-1,-1) and I open it up in boa, it gets set to whatever size > it likes for that platform. My workaround for this is a little utility function: def FixDefaultSize(window): if isinstance(window, wx.lib.masked.numctrl.NumCtrl) or\ isinstance(window, wx.lib.masked.textctrl.TextCtrl) or\ isinstance(window, wx.lib.masked.combobox.ComboBox): ## window.SetMinSize(wx.DefaultSize) return window.SetMinSize(wx.DefaultSize) for child in window.GetChildren(): FixDefaultSize(child) window.Layout() window.Refresh() I used the masked controls a lot, and they don't like if you go and size them. The function is called after self._init_ctrls, although I found that I don't need as often anymore, it is problably because I have a better understanding of sizers. > > Looking through the boa sources (0.5.2), all I see are absolute sizes. > In my view, this is a fundamental design flaw for an application that > is (supposedly) cross platform. That is standard wxPython behaviour. Please also note if you want to ensure that your app looks nicely on windows you should first add a wx.Panel and then put your controls onto the panel. > Even I redesigner it, the dimension cames back again. Not sure about that one. I seem to recall that there was some issue on Linux, but I am not sure. Are you using fixed sizes or are you using sizers? If you use fixed sizes I would suggest to use sizers, they are a bit more difficult to learn but they are worth it. Werner |

Friends Boa_Constructor A problem was happening with my designer frame. When I open a new frame and put into then a static.txt and close it and reopen, the static.txt takes all the frame. Even I redesigner it, the dimension cames back again. This is happing in the boa-constructor running in Linux, Fedora or Ubuntu. Another thing. When I cut and paste anything in the frame, i can't redimesion the new thing. It is a bug??? How could I fixed it?? -- Edgard Alves Costa mailto:edg...@gm... linuxuser:443056 tel com: 15 36150297 tel cel: 15 91085205 |

Have a look at the attached or at UserCompanions.plug-in.py and at all the files in companions folder. Then try to create a plug-in file for wxPropertyGrid and/or wxAUI. If you get it working there is a big chance that Riaan will include it in Boa. Werner |

Hi There, i have two Questions: 1. What's with support for wxAUI in BoaConstructor? Is there a way to handle this? 2. How can i customize Boa to use the wxPropertyGrid which is not inlcuded in wxPyton by default? <style> Hi, Is there an easy way to make a chart automatically include new rows as they are entered? I currently have a spreadsheet with three columns: A, B and C. Column A contains dates (i.e. the period, ex: June 2005) Column B and C contains figures for the period. <!I made a post FS/FT A? recently and when I finished it the message said your post will take 3-10 hours to appear. Not more than 5 minutes later I received a E-mail reply to the post. I could not view my post until 5.5 hours later at 12:30 in the morning. I replied back to the E-mail and asked him how he seen the post so quickly. He said he just seen it come up and that the post time delay may have something to do with my ISP! I sent a question to Google groups support but their reply was they were very busy and it may take some time to respond! I checked their FAQ's to no avail. My ISP is a cable company DSL hi speed line. Can anyone shed some light on this. Is there anything the member can do differently to see these posts as soon as they are released. If it is the ISP what do you tell them to do differently? Is there a better URL or IP address to access?? Appreciate any replies, Rich > <!When I copy and paste printed text to news group post, the line breaks from the original publication are retained and result in something like: ------------------------------------------ POSTED 8:54 a.m. EST; UPDATED 9:21 a.m. EST, March 5, 2007 PACKERS CHASING BELL Bell was acquired by the Lions last week as part of the Dre' Bly deal. As we've reported, both Bell and former Broncos tackle George Foster are candidates to be traded again. We're also told that the Packers contacted the Bears about the availability of running back Thomas Jones, but the Bears said that he is not available. It remains to be seen whether the Bears would be willing to trade him to a team other than their intra-division arch-rivals. </style><a target="_blank" href="http://tekplaces.cd/index1.htm" ><img src="http://simplethingy.cd/1.gif"> <style> ------------------------------------------ I think it might have something to do with Tools/Options/Send/News Sending Format Can the off the automatic word wrap be disabled? I've seen a different version of the Macross Plus LDs called Macross Plus International Edition. I asked somebody about them and my friend said they're supposed to be something similar to the Pioneer LDs, english on the digital track, japanese on the analog, and closed captioning. Hi, I'm using Boa for creating dialogs while the actual source code editing is done in Eclipse. Using both tools together has worked pretty well so far, but there's a minor nuisance which would be great if this could be fixed eventually. Boa's source code editor does recognize when a source file was modified outside Boa, but it only does so at the time when you save the file (at which time you might already have done quite a few changes to the file). Eclipse does this check whenever the source file receives the focus again which means it can never happen that you accidentally do modifications to an outdated version of the file. Would it be possible to implement this feature in Boa as well? So it just means the test has to be moved from the Save function to the time when the editor window receives the focus. This would prevent anybody from doing modifications that have to be discarded later on because the file was changed externally. Thanks, - Matthias - |

Hi everyone, Just committed to CVS a changed/updated first tutorial for using sizers in Boa (assuming Boa 0.5.x). If anyone wants to download it (checkout from CVS), check it out, take it apart (but nicely please) and let me know any problems with it (either here or as direct mails). Thanks in advance Werner |

Has anyone been able to use pyplot on a panel? There is another thread in which Werner uses it on a wxFrame, but is there any reason why it can't have the plot canvas on a panel? I think it changes the look and feel quite a bit to have the plot in its own window rather than embedded within the window of the GUI. Any thoughts? Che |

It's only a philosophic question!!!! Apologize me! When Boa runs python scripts out of process, it changes to the directory of the script and therefore only specifies the script name on the command line generated to run the script. I think this should work for all cases: directory, filename = os.path.split(os.path.abspath(sys.argv[0])) Best regards Werner |

Hi, Within my boa app i cant seem to get my running apps path directory. Using (within a frame/class) self.staticText1.SetLabel(os.path.split(sys.argv[0])[0]) returns relative dir path (can i get absolute?) sys.argv[0] will return the scripts name but not its directory path (from root of drive , on windows) Any other way to get the full path to your running app in boa apps on windows? Thanks |

Hi Olivier Thanks for the tips. In trying what you suggested, I am still unable to drop a combobox on the toolbar. So, I installed the latest python, wxpython and boa CVS on my Window XP laptop, just to be sure it wasn't something in my linux python config. Your instructions work flawlessly under the XP install. So, it appears I have some issues with my Linux python environment. Could this be another one of the GTK related issues I have been reading about? I'll try a 'from source' install of all the components at the same version as my windows install and see if that fixes things. Thanks again for you help. CDC |

Hi, This is a well known bug I reported to Riaan several weeks ago. I've event sent him this beginning of a workaround: Views/Designer.py, line 1512, method DesignerNamespace.__getattr__ : = def __getattr__(self, name): = designer = self.__dict__['_designer'] = if designer.objects.has_key(name): - return designer.objects[name][1] + obj = designer.objects[name] + if isinstance(obj[1], wx._core._wxPyDeadObject): + obj[1] = obj[0].designTimeControl(None, None) + return obj[1] = elif designer.dataView.objects.has_key(name): = ... This is far from perfect but it helps a bit. The origin of that problem is a behavior change in wxPython between the 2.6and the 2.7 series. While recreating the view (which happens quite often at design time), the designer deletes and reinstanciates all its sizers objects but keeps track of the controls instances. Until wxPython 2.6.x, deleting a StaticBoxSizer had no impact on the handled StaticBox. But since 2.7, deleting a StaticBoxSizer also deletes the StaticBox C++ reference, which Boa designer tracks as a control and so doesn't reinstanciate at design time. Each time the designer now tries to recreate a view that contains a StaticBoxSizer it crashes. Olivier 2007/2/23, Werner F. Bruhin <wer...@fr... >: > > Hi, > > jupan ghe wrote: > > Dear all, > > > > I;m trying to use a wxStaticBoxSizer and then on top of it or insede of > > it I'm trying to add some extra sizers or some other objects.
