2016.12 Point Releases. ALL WASTE users please download and use latest Point Release.

This months point releases are dedicated to WASTE. Work is underway to resolve bugs that have manifest. A new server mode has been introduced. This will prevent WASTE connecting out. All BIOS nodes operate in this mode now. Its a long overdue feature. More may be consider for 'Server Mode' over time.

ALL WASTE users are urged to keep an eye and then download the point releases.
ALL non-WASTE users should not be overly concerned with this months point releases. It is only WASTE that is being worked on.

The technical details follow...
WASTE has a re-engineered networking kernel now. The re-engineering enabled the weaving of socks4 proxying and Tor friendliness into this layer. Its behaviour has significantly improved after bugs were found in its handling of proxy connections in particular. This feature was fairly new and so attracted scrutiny. Its behavior with DNS was problematic. It can enter modes where DNS resolves could occur in rapid succession. This had to be stopped. Safe guards have been placed within the code to prevent this ever happening again. The networking stack is also 'Tor aware' and will handle .onion addresses directly. They will only be considered for use in proxy mode. With the new networking layer comes much neater handling of connections in general.

The use of .onion addressing in WASTE prevents it being compatibile with older WASTE clients. Switching the proxy off will make it more compatible.

We dont have many WASTE users, so WASTE has not had so much activity for a while.

The source code for WASTE is now shipped with the installer.
