Maybe it'll work if you use for "proxy/registrar address": "198.65.166.131" instead of "proxy01.sipphone.com".
And you should set "analog telephone adapter: on", otherwise it could be possible that you won't be able to send calls.

Thank you for your reply, that does make sense as it will go directly to the server, instead of having to look up the IP address. I have changed it, and it still fails to register. How can I check the process to see where it is failing?

i created a test account on SIPphone.com. I found out that the DNS lookup failed for SIPphone.com. That means you have to use the IP address (198.65.166.131).
But VoIP worked fine as far as i could test it without pay some money ;)
I used the following settings:
Phone: On
Analog telephone adapter: On
Subscriber: "Gizmo Project name" (your SIPphone.com user name)
User name: "Gizmo Project name" (your SIPphone.com user name)
Password: ******** (your SIPphone.com password)
Proxy/Registrar Address: 198.65.166.131
Proxy/Registrar Port: 5060
Domain: proxy01.sipphone.com

For some reason, without changing anything, I was walking by the phone and received a call though VOIP, it scared the crap out of me because I wasn't expecting that phone to ring. Now when I check the web interface, it says that there is a connection and I can make and receive calls. Don't know why it is working now, but it is, using the above settings. The only thing is somewhat of a QOS issue when heavy downloading.
Also for those that may have wanted to test sipphone above for kostenlos. You can call other sipphone users, and also erman and American toll free numbers using:
