Unfortunately, I've found out that this project is going to have to = abandon the nested classes structure adopted in version 0.2 due to the = lack of cross-compiler support for C++ nested classes. On a positive = note, much of the work already complete in version 0.2 can be preserved, = just the class structures must be rearranged. Regrettably, because I have a Real Life=E2=84=A2 with a job and more = importantly bills, I can=E2=80=99t afford to spend as much time as I = hoped on this project. I have no timeline for any new releases. |

As part of my ongoing effort for quality assurance and to better understand the audience for which this project is being developed, I am pleased to announce the beginning of the Intended Use survey. This survey will last throughout the lifetime of the project. You can fill out the survey now by going to: http://sourceforge.net/survey/survey.php?group_id=65215&survey_id=13861 |

As promised, Version 0.2 is being released by the deadline of November 30, 2002. This version is being made to fully conform to the BIOS Enhanced Disk Drive Services 2 standard (ANSI INCITS 363-2002). Unfortunately, I was unable to finish the complete rework by the deadline. Hence, this is a non-functional release; it is guaranteed not to work, so don't even try! There's nothing wrong with the project that's causing it to not work; it just hasn't been completed enough to allow functionality. This non-functional release allows you to see the significant progress that is being made (i.e. this project isn't being abandoned) and the design pattern being used in development (i.e. if you see a design flaw or have an idea for design improvement, you can point it out earlier). I expect other releases to follow upon the completion of the: *Initialization Routines - 0.21 Right now, BiosDiskIO won't even properly initialize, which is why this release is non-functional. After this release, BiosDiskIO will properly initialize, but you won't be able to do anything with it because none of the subset functions will have been programmed yet. *Fixed Disk Access Subset - 0.22 *Device Locking and Ejecting Subset - 0.23 *Enhanced Disk Drive Services Subset - 0.24 *Legacy Support - 0.25 I estimate that no more than 30 days should separate releases. This release moves the project status from "Stage 1 Planning" to "Stage 2 Pre-Alpha." As always, I welcome your comments at wag...@us..., and thanks for being a part of the BiosDiskIO Library project! |

Version 0.12 has been released. It corrected the implementation of the inline functions. Again, this release has not been tested. Testers are needed! |
