I processed a batch of 15 files using version 2.2.1 and received a results file see link which had tab delimiters and which i could not convert to Excel columns. http://143.167.93.146/tmp/BigRedBin/2008-9-29_49082d111947/bins.csv

    Thank Heather,

I think it's just the way Excel uses the file extension ".csv" and assumes the fields will be comma-separated, but they are not, they are tab-delimited. You can simply rename the file extension to be bins.txt and then Excel should then ask you what the delimiter is.

Anyway, I'll have a look into this a bit more.

In the meantime, could you do a step-by-step list of the actions you take to open the file in Excel, also are you using Internet explorer, Firefox or another web browser?

OK firstly I am using Internet Explorer (sorry!)

Once I have opened the bins results file I usually just copy and paste into Excel. But this time I copied and pasted into a text file. This formatted correctly but had inverted commas around it (like text does). I then opened the file in Excel and set the text qualifier to none and this formatted correctly. I just then had to remove all the inverted commas (using replace function).

Will try your method of saving file as .txt

    Hi Heather,

Just wondering if you still have issues/problems with this? If not, I'll close this bug.

    Cheers,
    Nath

    Hi Nathan,
I did try your suggestion of saving as a text file but I still need to set text qualifier to none and data still has inverted commas around it when I open it into Excel. So problem still there. It's not a major deal as I can still get at the data it's more of a little niggle!
Hope all well with you and your new arrival!
    Heather
