JabRef replaces Bibkeeper

Bibkeeper has merged with JBibtexManager to create the new project JabRef. Today the first release of JabRef is out, and it contains most features of Bibkeeper and JBibtexManager, plus some new ones.

We recommend that Bibkeeper users switch to JabRef, and that feature requests are addressed to the JabRef project.

Bibkeeper 0.4 released

Bibkeeper 0.4 brings you the new Groups feature, which lets you organize your databases easily and with great flexibility. Otherwise, there are numerous other improvements and bug fixes.

Regardless of what you thought of the earlier versions, you should give this one a chance.

Bibkeeper 0.3 released

The highlights of this release are the undo/redo and autocomplete features. Users will also notice some rearrangement of the menus, and improved textual feedback from operations.

Undo/redo and autocompletion in Bibkeeper

You can now undo/redo multiple actions in Bibkeeper. Also, the autocompletion feature (let's call it a prototype) is now available. Both of these features are present in the module 'bibkeeper' of our CVS repository. If you'd rather wait for a stable release, we may be looking at a 0.3 release soon.

Bibkeeper 0.22 released

Another minor upgrade, but a good one. The next release will probably bring bigger changes, and in case that takes some time, we want the view/edit source feature and other changes to be available in a stable release in the meantime.

View/edit bibtex source in Bibkeeper

The CVS sources for Bibkeeper now enable you to view the bibtex source for each of your entries, and you may opt to edit the source instead of filling in text fields.

Note that this feature hasn't been tested much yet.

Bibkeeper 0.21 released

The 0.21 version of Bibkeeper brings only bug fixes and small changes, but these are significant. For instance, the program should now load large files a lot more efficiently than before.

Bibkeeper 0.1 released

Bibkeeper is the tool for students, scientists and everyone else who use BibTeX databases. With Bibkeeper you can edit your databases, and get the big view of their contents, though a user-friendly graphical interface.

This is our first release, so there's plenty of opportunity to influence the features of future versions. Suggestions and bug reports are welcome!

New developer joined, and planning of first release starts

David Weitzman has joined the Bibkeeper project as a developer. A couple more will probably join within a few days.

Discussions about the sharing of tasks, and planning of the first release will take place in the discussion forums. Since it's still not certain exactly who'll be joining the team, we'll keep it in the open forum at first.

Source files

The first source files have been made available. I have called this a 'pre-release', since the program at this point can't do anything useful. But that is about to change!
