My OS is El Capitan (general public release preview version, but also in the sixth update if the public beta).
I use Bibdesk in full-screen mode, and I have no problems at all in normal usage.

However this weird (but completely replicable) behavior happens:

  • When I import a bibtex entry from clipboard, edit an entry, ... a new window is opened.
  • Since I am in fullscreen, the additional window also opens in fullscreen, and goes at the end of my desktops and apps in the mission control (by my default behavior).
  • If I close the window when I am finished editing it (either by cmd-W, or using the close icon), Bibdesk crashes.
  • If I either move the new window, or exit fullscreen for it (the original window remaining untouched), and then close it, it doesn't crash.

I suspect it is due to the interaction with the new fullscreen mode of El Capitan, for Aquamacs has the same behavior (but as a workaround I could prevent new windows from opening in it). In attachement, there is the console log of the crash.

This is really a system bug. Fullscreen is managed by the system frameworks, there's nothing special we do with this. Therefore there is also nothing we can do about this. This is also clear from the fact that this is not unique to BibDesk. So you should report this to Apple, not to us.

I suspected that, thanks. But I am more confident in you finidng a workaround (e.g. an option to open new tabs instead of windows), than apple fixing the bug...I will report to apple anyways.
