Actually somebody was kind enough to provide an italian translation (and push me to add the messages script) - but i back then didn't come to adding it (and loading dictionaries in the code) and then errr... forgot about it until i saw this thread yesterday.
I'll add dictionary loading code and upload the italian translation - it's not 100% up-to-date but will spare you a lot of work ;-)

Ok, pushed updated be.shell.pot and it.po provided by Maurizio P.
Have a look, maybe update translation and please tell me whether it works at all (for i've an en_US setup and absolutely no experience with i18n)

There are some missing lines by the way (for example Panels and System Tray with the relative submenus, from the rightclick menu...or others).
How can i add them? Is it safe to simply add those lines with kate, since lokalize doesn't provide an "Add" option?
( I THINK the message script is in charge to generate a pot file, although, by launching it, same results).

yes i compile it and works great, right now my beshell are spanish xD, Now I'm checking to improve the translation a bit more as there are few phrases in English are short but its translation in Spanish are long sentences.
there are two things that are not in the beshell.pot and I could not translate it because i no fount it in the beshell.pot the
"panels"
and
"systemtray"
Many thanks Samuel for your work!
Yes, as i previously mentioned, there are some lines missing in the pot file. For long phrases i've the same problem: spanish and italian require both more words to translate english ( which is almost an isolating language ).
I don't know if we'll get a more complete pot file, BUT, i'm sure that every line needs to point to the exact location in the source ( for example, line n in be.shell.cpp ).
I'd like to thank Thomas for the help, and Marguerite Su for the chinese localization!
@Thomas: i asked Lars to test the german one, i'll let you know tomorrow - when i'll get his response - if it works.
P.s. Added a journal entry to the Be-Desk group on DeviantArt, hope someone will be interested to translate be.shell to his/her language :)

@Hombre
If one i18n works, they do all - but the german one is pretty incomplete ;-)
I added the missing strings for the panel and systray.
Do not hesitate to point untranslated strings. Since the code was initially never meant for release, i didn't i18n in the beginning - so some were just forgotton.
Do not try to edit the .pot by hand - the messages.sh script does that automaticaly from the code ;-)
About string length:
yes, that's a problem most translators encounter - english is extremely dense. Otoh pictogram users like Chinese or Kanji "suffer" from their far shorter "terms" (eg. reg. icon padding) - mostly when developers don't consider the virtual absence of any text.
Just don't try to stick too close to the original grammar.

Even I have to improve even more, there are words that do not know how to put to better understand in Spanish, for example:
"Tile" in Spanish means azulejo, teja
but No remains very well, azulejo/teja is something different in Spanish, perhaps refers to "mosaic" in Spanish mosaic=mosaico is used for wallpapers, maybe its that...
could give me a synonym for tile.
thanks
UPDATE:
I found more missing strings in the session manager right click and in the taskbar right click
Found another one that needs to be added, the clock pattern dialog: http://postimg.org/image/904dmntxx/ ( is it part of be.shell, right? or maybe not? )
If mosaico is the word used in spanish, i suggest you to go with that ;)
Mosaico should also convey the idea of "tile".
I've a problem with "nasty" instead, it's not about the word par sè, but with the phrase "show nasty ones", i'll try to figure out what fits better.

I've no idea what's wrong with pastebin, but pastebin.ca blocks me completely and pastebin.com whenever it feels like (right now it just works, but the entire last week did not)
You can btw. also attach files to this forum (no idea about size limitations) and there's of course http://paste.kde.org/

Hi Thomas,
I would like to collaborate translating beshell to my native language, the Spanish
How I can do it?
Thanks
You need kdesdk-lokalize (or rather: you want it) which allows you to edit i18n/be-shell.pot and get a translation file in return.
Interesting idea!
I'd like to collaborate too, providing italian localization for both BE::Shell and bespin :)

It works fine, i've added translation for the clock menu, the message for countdown and the warning that pops up when a process is stopped.

hi, i update the es.po with the missing strings, and also improves in the spanish grammar .

"Tile" is a verb in this context -> repetir?
Found another one that needs to be added, the clock pattern dialog: http://postimg.org/image/904dmntxx/ ( is it part of be.shell, right? or maybe not? )

nasty:
annoying
unwanted
useless
I chose to translate it as useless = inutile, replacing orribile(horrible), used by Maurizio Paglia in the systray config dialog.
Here's the updated file, with the new lines: http://pastebin.com/WEfNk2py
EDIT: had to remove an error, uploaded a new version
Last edit: Hombremaledicto 2013-07-25
I fixed the missing strings
Can you please re-upload the translations (somewhere else than pastebin, which does (again) not respond here (66.252.2.46)
Sure, same version from before, hope dropbox works fine for you: https://www.dropbox.com/s/agl4wj57nf05uih/it.po
my lasted traslate reuploaded to dropbox too
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/590349/kde/es.po
in nasty i use = Ocultar
ocultar = hide
because what it does is hide the icon, nasty in Spanish is something more contemptuous
Thanks.

Nice Thomas, the next will be using http://paste.kde.org/ to try,
please, let me know when you update the missing strings to update the translation.
