I tried the new version 0.1.5 but exactly the same thing
happens. Maybe I can attach some debuging information?

Can you send me the dumped core, or analyse it like in the
other open bug from bbacpi. So I can locate where the
    problem comes from.

    Thanks anyway for your feedback.

Sorry, I can't find the core dump file anywhere. Do I need
    to use gdb?

Your core dumps are probably disabled :
ulimit -c --> if returns 0, it means core dumps disabled.

    Enable it by :
    ulimit -c unlimited

Now here is a short way to analyse it.
    1. put in a file "commandfile":
    bt
    disass $pc-32 $pc+32
    info all-registers

    2.Execute :
    ./configure --enable-debug=3
    make
    ./bbacpi
    gdb bbacpi --core=core -batch --command=commandfile > bbacpi.bug

    3. Copy paste bbacpi.bug here.

    Regards,
    Max

I followed the instructions and the core file still doesn't
appear. Maybe I can attach a stack trace?

It does work for me (i created some stupid seg fault to try
    ...).
Anyway, a stack trace can also be good.

ok, just to check. Can you upload here a tarball of your
acpi directory so I can check here.

    tar cjf ~/acpi.tgz /proc/acpi

I didn't had time to make long test, but a quicky one didn't
show me any problem with your /proc/acpi directory. I will
continue working on that by wednesday.

I found some other issue concerning parameter file reading.
Maybe related to your problem. Don't know yet.

Can you make a quick test for me. Just comment all options
in your parameter file. So it takes all by default. And see
    what happens.

    Thanks.

Commenting out all the options in
    /usr/share/bbtools/bbacpi.bb didn't help. Anyway, I managed
to debug bbacpi in gdb and it produced something helpful.
    I'm attaching the log file.

Ok, in some way this is good news. This is the exact same
bug as bug #1310094. I think i solved this on the development
version. I am sending a beta version here tomorrow so you
can try. I'll release it if you have no problem.

Here is a beta test version. It contains some code still
under development, but should work fine. I can't say for
sure because even with your acpi directory, i'm not able to
    have the core dump.

I tried the new 0.1.6 version and the program started fine.
It didn't show any useful information because I had all
lines commented out in the config file. When I installed the
original config file bbacpi crashed with

*** glibc detected *** malloc(): memory corruption:
    0x0807ef58 ***
    Aborted

When I compile bbacpi with enable-debug=3 the program
initially runs and displays some garbage information.

I think I know what the bug is about (if i'm correct). For
the moment, i don't know how to solve it. But here is a
short way around that should do it.

    Baseressource.cc : at line 78, add the following :

    /* Damn way around */
    sprintf(bbtool->config_filename,"/usr/local/share/bbtools/bbacpi.bb");

This will mean bbacpi won't be reading your fluxbox
configuration file to get some info about your theme, and
thus you will have to copy by yourself all detail of your
    theme into /usr/local/share/bbtools/bbacpi.(no)bb (or
    /usr/share/bbtools/bbacpi.(no)bb depending on your system)
    to have them match together.

Good luck with that one ;)

    Max
