I believe this is a server config/basilix conflict.
I use courier-imap and it is configured to move deleted mail
automagically to trash.
Basilix also will 'move' a message to trash, but then
'delete' the original one. Upon the 'delete' the server
will move it to trash, creating two copies.
If this is your situation, then an RFE for 'Disable the
option to move deleted messages to trash' should be what you
request ;)
