Check return codes everywhere

Some checks for return codes are missing.
Examples:
Would you like to add more error handling for return values from "malloc" like in the function "bartlby_check_sirene" and from "fwrite" in the function "bartlby_pre_init"?

I suggest to avoid unchecked function calls.
Would you like to detect every error situation as early as possible?

bartlby_pre_init: strdup(), chdir(), fclose()

schedule_loop: malloc()
Can the tool "http://splint.org/" help to find any remaining issues?

Would you like to reduce the efforts for error code checking by an exception class hierarchy?

It would be nice if more than a comment like "auto commit" will appear in the revision log.
Would you like to add a reference (case number) to this issue to the change log?

I guess that static source code analysis will point out more open issues.
