The other images with the blue and words are supposed to be branding for the website and other useful images when they are required to be used. The idea is that your not just coming up with an icon but something that can be put into banners and other useful graphics. Like a nice "I support Barry" supporters blog image. You could have downloaded the tar.bz2 (follow the download link in deviantArt) and used the barry_icon.svg which is already transparent and would scale to each icon size, including a desktop image. It does look nice though, we might want to add a humanised symbol for backup or sync for the actual application though. Make sure we can reuse the graphic for more than one part of the project.
