The following bug has been CLOSED ====================================================================== http://bugs.bacula.org/bug_view_advanced_page.php?bug_id=0000703 ====================================================================== Reported By: jgaski Assigned To: ====================================================================== Project: bacula Bug ID: 703 Category: Director Reproducibility: always Severity: minor Priority: normal Status: closed ====================================================================== Date Submitted: 10-29-2006 15:04 EST Last Modified: 11-10-2006 09:45 EST ====================================================================== Summary: Bacula does not handle daylight savings time change gracefully Description: Daylight savings ended last night. Today, I find my backups, which run at 1:05, started failing when the time changed. Problem 1 is that all my jobs queued twice. Problem 2, more important, is that the mysql update of a job running at 1:39 failed. These are the pertinent messages: 29-Oct 01:08 pluto-dir: flouric.2006-10-29_01.05.07 Error: Catalog error creating JobMedia record. sql_create.c:143 Update Media record UPDATE Media SET EndFile=216, EndBlock=15499 WHERE MediaId=0 failed: ERR= 29-Oct 01:08 pluto-sd: flouric.2006-10-29_01.05.07 Fatal error: Error creating JobMedia record: 1991 Update JobMedia error 29-Oct 01:08 pluto-sd: flouric.2006-10-29_01.05.07 Fatal error: Could not create JobMedia record for Volume="HYDRO.0032" Job=flouric.2006-10-29_01.05.07 I suspect this is what mysql choked on: Start time: 29-Oct-2006 01:39:21 End time: 29-Oct-2006 01:08:48 And the end result was that bacula refused to continue using the tape. The next job failed with: 29-Oct 01:08 pluto-sd: Job gen.2006-10-29_01.05.08 waiting. Cannot find any appendable volumes. Please use the "label" command to create a new Volume for: Storage: AIT-3 Media type: AIT-3 Pool: Default Oddly, that volume still had status "appendable." I am trying a restart of mysql & bacula, and will report if the tape is still not usable. Yes, my bacula version (1.36.3) is old; I apologize if this has already been fixed. ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jgaski - 10-29-2006 15:15 EST ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay -- I see the double scheduling problem has been mentioned before and is FreeBSD related. So ignore that. Also, this is avoidable by scheduling backups to avoid the time change; so, I need nothing regarding this -- just submitting it so that you know and can address it if feasible / appropriate. Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kern - 11-10-2006 09:45 EST ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe this is fixed in 1.38.x. At least I added code that *should* fix it. Update to 1.38.11 and hopefully the problem will go away. If not, please reopen this bug.
