The following issue has been ASSIGNED. ====================================================================== http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1939 ====================================================================== Reported By: alexandro Assigned To: ====================================================================== Project: bacula Issue ID: 1939 Category: File Daemon Reproducibility: N/A Severity: feature Priority: normal Status: closed Resolution: fixed Fixed in Version: 5.2.14 ====================================================================== Date Submitted: 2012-10-06 23:34 BST Last Modified: 2012-10-10 15:49 BST ====================================================================== Summary: ACL and XATTR support for GNU/Hurd Description: Please, add support for ACL and extended attributes on GNU/Hurd ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (0006519) marcovw (developer) - 2012-10-07 21:49 http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1939#c6519 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- We don't handle feature requests in the bug database. See http://www.bacula.org/en/?page=feature-request Things to keep in mind are: GNU/Hurd is NOT a supported platform as the config engine doesn't have any magic for adding this platform so that is something that needs to be done first. Next to that there is next to NO documentation on xattr and acl on GNU/Hurd and from what can be found it seems its either so different as on other platforms or it has no support at all. First steps would be to collect some info on how to interface to the system e.g. API calls/headers needed etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (0006521) marcovw (developer) - 2012-10-10 11:53 http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1939#c6521 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Looking at GNU Hurd somewhat more it seems evident that adding support is obvious. To the usability of it all I have greater doubts, it seems the current version has the acl and xattr interfaces analog to Linux but it seems there is no backend for it so it probably next to useless. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (0006523) marcovw (developer) - 2012-10-10 15:49 http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1939#c6523 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok added all support and tested on GNU Hurd 0.3 debian release. It all compiles now without problems if it works probably not until a xattr backend is implemented but that is not really a Bacula problem.
