A NOTE has been added to this issue. ====================================================================== http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1318 ====================================================================== Reported By: atrox Assigned To: ====================================================================== Project: bacula Issue ID: 1318 Category: Win32 File Daemon (client) Reproducibility: always Severity: minor Priority: normal Status: feedback ====================================================================== Date Submitted: 2009-06-25 16:46 BST Last Modified: 2009-06-30 07:44 BST ====================================================================== Summary: estimate and actual job differ Description: I'm trying to run incremental job of a fileset (having mtimeonly=yes and IgnoreFileSetChanges=yes) that I have restored to the same machine after reinstalling it. When I check the job's estimate, it shows correctly only new files that have been created/modified since restoration, but when I run the actual incremantal job, all the files are included in backup. ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (0004337) kern (administrator) - 2009-06-25 17:41 http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1318#c4337 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >From what you report, we would have to spend hours blindly trying to reproduce the problem, so if you would like us to look at it, you will need to be much more explicit by showing exactly what estimate command you used, what your FileSet looks like, and the resulting output from estimate and actually running the job. Please be aware that the "estimate" command is exactly what it says: an estimate. In fact, it works by finding all the files in the FileSet applying many of the parameters in the FileSet, but it does not actually read the file data. As such things such as the estimated size can be wildly wrong because the estimate is based on the file meta data, and the actual backup may be done by compressing the data, which is not done during the estimate. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (0004342) atrox (reporter) - 2009-06-26 21:00 http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1318#c4342 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll attach the configuration of the fileset and output of 'estimate' (command: estimate job=elika-note level=incremental listing). When I run the job (command: run job=elika-note level=incremental), all the files are included in backup and start being backed up (sorry, I can't wait for the job to finish to give its output, because it would take days and I doubt it would be successful). But here's what I base my guess on: *stat client=elika-note-fd Connecting to Client elika-note-fd at 10.8.8.203:9102 elika-note-fd Version: 3.0.1 (28 April 2009) VSS Linux Cross-compile Win32 Daemon started 26-Jun-09 22:42, 0 Jobs run since started. When I set it to 'no', the correct list of files is backed up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (0004347) ebollengier (administrator) - 2009-06-29 16:55 http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1318#c4347 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The current estimate command doesn't use the "accurate mode", so the number of file can differ from the backup using this mode. This is now documented. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (0004358) atrox (reporter) - 2009-06-30 07:44 http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1318#c4358 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- But why does Accurate=yes cause all the files to be backed up?
