Hi, I'm trying to develop a backup concept for a small non-profit organization. Since it is non profit it's no option to buy any new hardware but instead use what is already available. What needs to be backuped are about 15 servers. Fortunatly those servers have plenty free harddisk space. So I'm planning on using this available space for backup. My basic idea is to split the servers in 2 groups of servers. Each server get's backed up to the free space in the other group. Example: Server A and Server B are in Group 1 Server C and Server C are in Group 2 This would mean that for example the Backups of server C are stored on either A or B Is this possible? The idea is that each server runs a Storage Daemon and a File Daemon. I created 2 Pools From what I've read a Job always stores on a Pool and not on a SD directly. That sounds good too me. However.. how is the data distributed on the Volumes inside a pool? Next Server/Volume as soon as the first is full? How do I manage the maximum size of a volume? Unfortunatly not all servers have the same amount of free space. Could this setup work? Thanks a lot for your feedback in advance. Bye Thorsten |
