Even if it doesn't work with mtx - and thus an unmodified mtx-changer script - as long as there is a vendor-supplied program to handle the autochanger from the shell it's possible to use that device. Its only a question of using a replacement for mtx then. The tape drive itself should work without problems - I don't know any LTO drives not usable by a common unix or linux system.
