Two: - The file "attrib" is created in each directory to store file attributes. Without file name mangling you will get collisions between this file and any regular file called "attrib". - If you are using a share name for tar or rsycn that contains "/" (eg: /home/craig) then without mangling everything will fail, since a single directory is created for each share. With mangling this directory is called f%2fhome%2fcraig. Why do you want to turn mangling off? The CGI interface and scripts like BackupPC_tarCreate and BackupPC_zipCreate allow easy access to merged, correctly-named files with the correct attributes. Even with mangling off if you try to access the backup directories directly you don't get the correct attributes and you don't get merged incrementals. That said, you could change the subroutines fileNameEltMangle() and fileNameMangle() in lib/BackupPC/Lib.pm, but you are on your own. Craig |
