Hi Michael, I have applied your patch manually to BackupPC 2.1.2. I was having problems backing up Windows hosts with the rsyncd method over a WAN connection. For full backups, the filelist generation would get stuck. Your patch seems to have improved the file list generation enough to make the incrementals pretty reliable, but does not seem to be the whole answer, since the fulls are still failing. I'm running BackupPC on Debian Sarge, so I had a /dev/shm all ready to use. BTW, there seems to be some typos in your patch, each occurance of die("can"t open $TopDir/pc/$client/NewFileList") should be die("can't open $TopDir/pc/$client/NewFileList") (single quote in can't) I will post more details about my WAN backup issue in a new thread.
