If perl's gethostbyname() (ie: NS lookup) works, then that IP address is used. If not, then nmblookup is run. So provided there is no entry in /etc/hosts, nmblookup should be used to get the IP address. That is then passed to ping. You should run BackupPC_dump manually with the -v option to see exactly which commands are run. Craig |
