Gang, this could end up being off-topic, as it may end up being more about network routing than backuppc. But, here's the deal: my father-in-law has a small company (10 computers) and they never back up. I want to use my new backuppc system to get them backed up (and offset some of my costs), but I'm not sure the best way to do that remotely. They use a linksys router, so I can set up a separate port for each PC and try to route directly (e.g., 873 to x.x.x.1), but I think with other things they have going through the router, I'll run out of available ports. Linksys gives you 10 slots, that's it. If I recall correctly, linksys lets you route a port (or range) to "255" which means it routes to all IP addresses in the subnet. That would be a bit too shotgun; there would be 9 simultaneous authentication failures, and one acceptance... Has anyone found a solution that works for anything like this? Thanks, Todd |
