Heh...the debug output is junk, really...it's supposed to echo
the *name* of the document, which isn't set, so outputs "null".
(Note to self: Strip own debugging stuff before submitting mail
 next time. Less confusing. ;-) )

Nope, that's not it. The document is set alright. It's parsed
and goes through several stages before bombing with the NPE.
