On the subject of 1.0 - OK, but properties could be set in runtime, right? I guess this could be implemented using servlet init parameters and then setting System properties in init method. Are there some security issues with this? > how are you doing with the crypto module? We need some examples and some > documentation of use. Unfortunatelly I don't have much time to work on this. I tought I would need this module for some projects but currently this is not the case. I am working a lot on scanner refactoring since we are mostly use scanners, and there are some problems with current implementation. I have created new cvs branch named "new-scanner" and I will merge with main branch after I finish it (I guess after 1.0 release). I will try to work on crypto module but I cannot promiss anything. When the 1.0 release are planned? Dejan, System.properties do work - thats how it works at the moment. When we have moved past 1.0 then lets think about changing this. On the subject of 1.0 - how are you doing with the crypto module? We need some examples and some documentation of use. regards, Bruce On Wednesday 16 April 2003 07:45 am, Dejan Krsmanovic wrote: > > I do agree that it would be better to have this in the init parameters. > > One reason is, that otherwise you could not have several babeldoc > > servlets with different pathes/modules. > > > > So somehow it should be possible to set the scandir in BabledocModule > > programaticaly. Hans, after updating files with new Soap code and jar files, I have problems trying to compile module. It seems to me that jar files are corrupted. Check if you have added them as binary to CVS. Dejan |

Sounds interesting. Are you thinking of something like a SoapScanner - posts a soap request and then puts the repsonse in a pipeline? I am now using system properties when starting catalina (-Dbabeldoc.scandir=...) and if I understand Bruce correctly this is the only way at the moment. I do agree that it would be better to have this in the init parameters. One reason is, that otherwise you could not have several babeldoc servlets with different pathes/modules. So somehow it should be possible to set the scandir in BabledocModule programaticaly. Or - as there are propably more things to configure - we perhaps should have a ConfigService that can be initialized with a javax.servlet.ServletConfig? Hans, I noticed you have commited new soap code. Great! Have you solved problem with system properties? Or they should be set as catalina options? Is there a chance to use servlet init parameters instead of catalina options? Dejan |

I am finished with porting the module to the new library and everything is commited to CVS - hopefully to the right place, this time ;-). At the moment it should have exactly the same behaviour as before, but throw Exceptions in case of HTTP errors. I will now add some additional features like processing of soap faults and replying with soap messages. Precisely. Remember the reason is that in a container you only have access to the system classpath. Your classloading is done by the container. Yes, good detective work. The big problem that remains is: How to tell babeldoc how to find its modules (or also what are its modules - these are two different problems) in an EJB container. Remember part of the rules in a EJB container is that the code can't read/write the file system. Here is my thinking - it cant be done at build time by the ejb module because that module that module might not be the last module to be execute during the build. So it must be a post build process. This is just like copying the war/ear/jar files to the deploy directory in the application server. So what probably be done is a post-build ant script generates the complete module cache, jars it up and then deploys the babeldoc jar files to the application server. regards, Bruce. Yes - both are needed. The scandir helps babeldoc find its modules dynamically when running in a web container. com.babeldoc.core.module.BabeldocModule? No, it's still there and it has functions like buildModuleSetFromScanDir() and buildModuleSetFromClasspath() - that was, where I got the clue to use babeldoc.scandir ... OK, I am wrong again! BabeldocModule has not been deleted just, moved to com.babeldoc.core.module package. I think this is where babeldoc.scandir is used... I guess servlets should be refactored to get this (and other necessery properties) as init parameters. Bruce, what do you think? My mistake, now I have realized that BabeldocModule has been deleted... I need to synchronize my sources with CVS. (My machine cannot access SF CVS because of proxy settings, so I have to work on two machines ;) One for development and one for getting and commiting files to CVS! Dejan |

I am glad that you solved the problem... I guess there must be other ways to fix this. Adding catalina properties doesn't seems like good idea to me... Maybe using servlet init parameters would be a better solution... I guess this problem has arised by intorducing BabeldocModule class. Bruce could give you better explanation why this happens and what to do to avoid these problems... Ok, I think I found it: Adding babeldoc.home and babeldoc.scandir to tomcat's system properties did the job. Is this the only way to do this? I get a JournalException because JournalFactory.getJournal() returns null. I assume that the merge of the property files fails, because it doesn't find those in the jar files. But it finds the classes - why not the property files? Do I have to set a path for that somewhere? > P.S. Have you created babeledoc_v1 module on CVS? ;-) Ooops - I told you, I would break the repository! :-( My fingers allways keep stumbling over the spelling of babel - propably because it sounds like table... And obviously my IDE (just started using eclipse) thought it had to create that module, if it isn't there... I am sorry! Can we remove this? I am not sure if I can help you since I haven't used it. Have you checked if jar files contains necessery config properites? I mean the jar files inside war...What is the error you get? Dejan P.S. Sorry guys, I am still to stupid to get that servlet running correctly, because allthough it has all the jar files it does not find the config property files like service/query... or i18n/.... Could anybody give me a hint how to deploy babeldoc servlets to tomcat correctly? I have noticed some problems in auto - generated documentation in User guide. I have submited it as bug on SF. Some of those I have fixed but there are still problems remaining. By the way, Bruce, could SF be configured to send e-mail to this mailing list whenever somebody post new item in tracker (bug, feature request...) or in forum? Since it can send e-mails to individual user I guess there is workaroud here (subsribing as some dummy user with e-mail set as this mailing list). Dejan |
