I am working on a navigation system for a fixed wing UAV and I was wondering if I could ask a few questions. I have a working IMU using a Gyration MG100 gyro and an ADXL accelerometer. Has anyone tried the Gyration gyro? How well does it hold up under vibration? I haven't installed it into a model airplane yet and I'm concerned about the vibration causing the piezo elements to hit their stops. I'm also trying to wrap my brain around Kalman filters. How does the filter know that the airplane is in a non-inertial state(accelerating) and to lower the gain from the accelerometer measurements? How long can the airplane maintain a non-inertial state like a coordinated turn? --Nick Haman |
