First public release of AutoMeter

AutoMeter v2.4.2994 (yeah I know) is a systems monitoring tool that reads the relevant /proc/* entries and any program that emits parsable text and renders these numbers into an autoscaling color stripchart widget with many representation modes. One of the nice things of autoscaling is that you don't have to set the y-scale. You can select up to 16 or so widgets to represent your pertinent data. Usually I select cpu_load, all my harddisks, my netwerk interface, memory stats and my CPU temperature (by using the sensors command) and my CPU fan RPM. Any selections you make are immedialtely stored. Later invocations of AutoMeter will use these remembered settings.
It simply is pure fun to watch your harddisks perform at 45 MBytes/sec when running something like dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/null.
Requests for as yet unsupported hardware are welcome !... read more
