if modules.conf does not exist in the /etc directory,
the installer will not finish. I just compiled my
2.4.3 kernel, and it it didn't create this file... so i
simply made an empty file named modules.conf and
everything works fine...should be a simple bug to fix.
thanks much for the work on this driver!!

However, the driver does not seem to insmod itself anyway
on bootup which is another problem!
