Dear everyone,

I'd like to unearth some of the weird behaviors I get with edges with Tulip on MacOS.
It's been a while that I have those (as far as 4.0 version I think), and they are quite difficult to isolate and to predict. So any feedback can be good so we can track and kill the bugs. If you know that comes from something insolvable because of #@#$Qt bug, just tell me!
Maybe this is related to the infamous bug that often crashes tulip when switching views on MacOS? I really don't know if this is one same bug or multiple bugs coming together.

I see two mechanisms that creates the bug(s).

The Selection mechanism:

  • sometimes I get really weird edges selected at higher levels of zoom, but the right edges selected at lower levels of zoom
  • edges with curves, when using bundled edges or edges with curves (not polylines), selection tends to create weird boxes such as the one I'm attaching

Coloring edges:

  • sometimes my graph coloration is an old graph coloration on the edges at different levels of the current zoom. I don't have an example yet, but I can feed this post whenever it happens again. The thing is hard to predict, and often happens when we're in a rush.
  • when having multiple edges overlapping, the coloration seems sometimes lost between the different edge colors.

I'll try to feed this post with as many examples as I can come across with, other Mac users are more than welcome to enrich this post.

Let me also add a few suggestions:
-is it necessary to have always edge border widths (viewBorderWidth) set to 1 by default, because it seems to be quite demanding in resources for a little effect (that often appears only on zooming, and doesn't pay justice to tulip when they start to appear)
-i'd have more or less the same comment concerning the viewLabelBorderWidth

Cheers,
