Hello Current member of AtariAge. Been messing around with my various Pi's and decided to make a dedicated Atari800 Zero W. Took several attempts to get it to run smoothly testing various OSes, etc. Finally got a stable and very smooth running set-up. Installed DietPi with no desktop and only addition was OpenSSH to communicate with my PC on Sandisk Ultra Plus 16Gb microSD. Set GPU memory at 256 and the rest is stock default settings. Atari800 settings: - All stock OSes and BASIC A,B & C available. - High Fidelity Pokey and Stereo Pokey ON @ 22050 Hz - Display filtering OFF That's about the only things I changed from default settings. I am very pleased with the outcome, but have an odd situation on initial warm start-up. Atari800 will randomly fluctuate at speeds between 50-80% initially. Games and sound are real choppy. But, if I make a change in the settings menu (don't even need to save the change) and then back out of the menu back to the game or software I am running, it runs smoothly at 98-100% speed. It will run at full speed with no glitches of any kind. I've tested it for over an hour at a time. It's more of an annoyance then anything. Would like your thoughts on what might be causing that initial speed restriction. Thank you Brandon (AKA nismopc @ atariage forums) |
