The main game loop is unbounded do while. It is basically unplayable on CPUs faster than ~600MHz without a throttling tool (say github cpulimit). Allegro does offer a timer for these types of things: Search for Using_Timers_in_Allegro_4 -- That aside it compiles and is sorta kinda playable.Reply from Atomic Tanks

This has been one of my fav Linux games since I discovered it a year or two ago, but as of version 6.4, the game has turned into a serious mess. The terrain is more mountainous and rugged than before, the AI players shoot themselves somewhat frequently, and the level 1 (Beginner) and 2 AI players all seem to play at a Level 4 (Expert) level and have become nearly impossible to defeat. When playing a multi-player game with the AI players, I now get blown away by both players before I can even fire a shot off! Until Atomic Tanks turns back into the fun game that it used to be, I'll just stick with the older versions.

Crashes frequently in Windows 7. Current version (v6.4) runs but crashes almost every single time the program is run (previous version worked flawlessly). AI is now worse (shoots itself frequently, frequently shoots team members, previous version did neither), damage of some weapons are now unbalanced (60 points on this version, 45 on previous version). *ALL* AI tanks attack player regardless of "easier" targets and "better" AI tanks have deadly aim. No longer fun at all.
