Hey Folks, I'm elated to announce the alpha release of AsUnit 3.0! This build has been completely rebuilt from the ground up using the JUnit sources, and provides complete support for ActionScript 3.0! You can get the latest build from: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/asunit/AsUnit-3.0.1.alpha.zip?download Or, as always, you can go to www.asunit.org <http://www.asunit.org> to get the sources. Hey Keith, Thanks for the heads up! I'm not sure what was causing the problem, but a few more tries seems to have taken care of it. Please let me know if you have any other questions or issues! So, any major changes in the workflow or methods? I don't see any new docs or change lists... _____ From: asu...@li... Sorry for the dearth of documentation! Basically, take a look at AsUnit.as and how it instantiates TestCases for the framework. This is how it works now - any application that will host TestCases must extend TestRunner. For now, that means asunit.textui.TestRunner, but may (i= n the near future) include asunit.desktop.TestRunner or asunit.localconn.TestRunner... Once you've got that one, you just create TestSuites and TestCases as before. I have a xulrunner desktop application that will auto-create these for you if you're interested, but it's kind of strange and has even less documentation. I'll post it to sourceforge this week and let you know as soon as it's ready. Hit me up again if this wasn't much help - I've been drinking tonight. ;-) Thanks, Luke |

Hey Robert, Here's a great article on Test-Driven Development: http://junit.sourceforge.net/doc/testinfected/testing.htm Essentially, AsUnit 3.x is built directly from the JUnit source code. It is a pure ActionScript framework that allows you to construct test fixtures fo= r your applications. It lets you build each encapsulated element of an application, test it, gaurantee it's functionality and then through continuous integration, grow your application over time with confidence. If at any point, you break some long-forgotten entity, your test fixture will notify you immediately with exactly what is broken and why it broke. If you later expose issues (bugs) that went originally untested, you can develop a new test that exposes the behavior, then fix it and be assured that it won'= t be reintroduced. This is an alternative approach to what's known as "Waterfall" development, and without a clean unit test framework, it's very difficult to implement..= . Thanks for asking! Hey Eric, Yep - AsUnit 3.x (all versions) will support only ActionScript 3.0. We do plan to continue iterating on AsUnit 2.x which will continue to support ActionScript 2.0. I need to get a build posted for 2.0 next week. I'm waiting for Ali to get back from vacation as he was working on that build last. Please take a look at the AsUnit.as file in the zip bundle to see how a roo= t test fixture should look now. Essentially, you just extend asunit.textui.TestRunner from a DocumentRoot ActionScript file and call the start method with a reference to a TestCase "class" (not instance). Thanks for the update on your name - I've been wondering! I'll get the site updated this week! ;-) Hi Luke, > > > Is there any place that states for the new features ? > Is it an as3 version only ? > > Please let me know. > > |
