Thanks Lonnie I will give Monit a try and let you know how I go. I will only turn on for some sites. Sorry all I am dredging up this thread again. Thanks Lonnie for the info below. Although my main provider uses an IP Address based trunk which makes this problem go away, I have some providers that require registration via a DNS name. I have now activated dnsmgr which is good in that it will update the IP Address on the peer so it can reregister, HOWEVER the OPTIONS pings will not start up again if down after a reboot. I can turn off SIP OPTIONS (qualify=no) and put in a specific firewall rule I suppose but I would still rather have qualify=yes So my questions are: 1) What frequency of registrations or SIP OPTIONS are actually required to keep the firewall translation is place 2) Would it be feasible for Monit to check 'sip show peers' that if a trunk peer has a Host IP Address but is a Status of UNKNOWN then do a 'module reload chan_sip.so' and report it? Thanks all. Regards Michael Knill On 13/1/18, 6:38 am, "Michael Knill" <mic...@ip...> wrote: Thanks Lonnie I have confirmed with my main provider that their IP Address will likely never change to I will be putting the IP Address in sip.conf so I don't even need to set a static host. Another approach, or in tandem, is to not depend on OPTIONS pings (qualify=yes) to keep firewall ports open, instead (qualify=no) use very specific (secure) firewall rules for inbound SIP calls. To be clear, it is not recommended to do either of the above as a general practice, but you do what you have to do. Hi Graham I run Alix boards with 256Mb RAM and I have to turn off as much as I can using 1.2.10. 512Mb should be fine though. I recommend the APU for any new boxes. I'm pretty sure that this wasn't on http://www.astlinux-project.org/ when I looked this morning.... Michael I will add that the PC Engines APU2 "apu2c2" http://pcengines.ch/apu2c2.htm *should* be a good choice later this year after the BIOS is feature complete. Same price as the APU1 but with Intel i211AT NIC's. We have not tested it yet. Another good choice is the Jetway NF9HG-2930 mini-itx board http://doc.astlinux.org/userdoc:board_jetway_nf9hg-2930 Currently that board seems hard to find, but I'm sure Jetway is making more. Of course you would have to add a case, memory and SSD. As David mentioned at http://doc.astlinux.org/userdoc:documentation -> "Generic x86 Boards and Appliances" we have quite a few choices that we have tested. Hmmmm - embarrassing.... I'm pretty sure that this wasn't on http://www.astlinux-project.org/ when I looked this morning.... *IMPORTANT NOTICE:* AstLinux 1.2.10 was the last supported version for "net5501" and "alix" board types. A custom build can still be used to generate 'run' images for "net5501" and "alix" board types. Hi John, The docs are correct, but from my googling the HP T5720 contains an "AMD Geode NX 1500" CPU which appears to support "Physical address extensions" (PAE). When you try to perform a System tab -> "RUNNIX Bootloader Upgrade:" the /proc/cpuinfo "flags" entries are checked for ' pae ', only if ' pae ' does-not-exist are you restricted to Runnix 4. The fact that your HP T5720 boots with runnix-0.5.2 means it supports PAE. As long as the /proc/cpuinfo "flags" entries report PAE properly (I have never seen a problem) it is always safe to perform System tab -> "RUNNIX Bootloader Upgrade:" and you will get the proper Runnix version. Thanks Michael. That would be great. Im considering doing a custom build and installing the Asternic Server directly on box. Can you see any immediate issues with doing this? Whoops sorry MySQL module in the custom build. PS I just did a Web Chat to the Asternic guys and it appears that you can set up everything on a separate server and just log your CDR to the database on that separate server. I looked at CDR-Stats and it seemed a bit basic to me! Thanks Lonnie I have confirmed with my main provider that their IP Address will likely never change to I will be putting the IP Address in sip.conf so I don't even need to set a static host. I do like to know the reachability of my trunks so I will keep the OPTIONS pings going. Thanks so much again for your help. Of course if your SIP provider makes changes you will have to reconfigure the DNS IP's like a bunny. What I have found is that if for some reason DNS resolution is not possible (e.g. network is down), if the system is rebooted or Asterisk loses the resolved address, it no longer sends the OPTIONS pings as it cant find the address obviously. > Yes that makes sense however the problem arises when the network is restored, Asterisk is completely unaware and therefore makes no attempt in resolving the address. > I believe this is what is causing my intermittent issues which is easily resolved by doing an Asterisk Reload when network connectivity is restored.
