My stacking of 23 subframes has not aligned the stars, resulting in squiggly lines instead of a dot, - default alignment parameters. I dithered every two subframes, 30 sec exposures. I ran stacking in Siril and the result is aligned. See attached files. This is the first time I have seen this. I use ASTAP all the time. Version is 2026.09.19 Intel 64 bit.
This can happen if one of images show streaks instead of starsc due to poor guiding. Check the image which was used as reference. This is the image which get the crown icon.
Or inspect the image with the lowest HFD value visually. (sort by clicking on the HFd column.)
Or inspect all images visually by the scrolling through them by pressing the black right arrow button and hit the esc button to stop
Unselect the poor image or rename it to .bak using the popup menu and try to stack again.
Tell me if this works for you

Tried everyting, no luck.
No streaks in any imaging. I have unselected the poorest image, I have unselected groups of images.
I have tested with just two images, but if there is any change in star position between them both positions appear.
So, no alignment occuring at all.
I tried an earlier session a while ago and it worked correctly.
The only point of difference is that I am using a different DSLR and lens this time,, but I don't see how that could affect this as other statcking apps do correct alignment.
Over to you!

Settings in the screen shot look all good. I like to investigate further. Can you share a few images which do not align during stacking? Then I can test it here and look for the cause.

Make and attach a screenshot of your settings in tab "Alignment" to your next reply so I can have a look.
Use also "star alignment" (preferred). You can use astrometric but you have to assure the solutions are accurate or refresh them.
See attached Alignment tab screenshot.

Attached the stacked result in this post, the 4 images will be in next
THe stacked result is 213MB and FITS images are 38MB, they are not getting through. How can I send you these large(?) files?
upload it to something like https://ufile.io/ and send me the link.
