My smtp server gives the sender a WARNING if the mail isn't delivered within one HOUR. Then, gives an NDR if it isn't delivered within 3 days. This way if it is time-sensitive, the sender knows there may be a problem within an hour of sending, and can follow up with a phone call and take alternate measures if need be. The defaults in postfix are not only usually sane, but usually conform to the RFCs - and the default value for the maximum queue lifetime is FIVE days. -- Best regards, Charles |
