ASSP's implementation of recipient validation is something that works so well and saves the server so much that I assume everyone is using it. If not, they should. Many overworked email servers can be saved by simply putting ASSP or some SMTP gateway in front to reject invalid recipients, but those protections require knowledge of the valid users one way or another. > Merak MTA has a built-in LDAP server that is supposed to synchronize with > the user list in the mail server. IMail is in a similar boat and by using Active Directory we can't even use prewritten scripts to load the aliases to IMail's LDAP, so we maintain the text file for those aliases and lists. Fairly easy to script, but also stays very static in our case so can easily be maintained by hand if needed. Thanks, Doug |
