using that option on postfix for many months. No real problems. I espect
legit mail servers to be properly configured. (i don't accept direct to mx
nor relay email for dialup customers, so i don't care about poorly managed
hosts). Also more and more  large mail hubs don't accept unqualified helos
and fake ip literals, so i feel safe in enforcing this check.

ok, that would be a good choice. I don't like scoring. I love to reject (via
55x) before data.

great. You can count on me for testing. I feel the HELO filtering (all
pre-data filtering)  is now the area that needs most improving in ASSP.
