Artifactory generates corrupted backup files
--------------------------------------------
Key: RTFACT-764
URL: http://www.jfrog.org/jira/browse/RTFACT-764
Project: Artifactory
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Artifact Storage, Backup
Affects Versions: 1.2.5
Environment: Artifactory running on Windows 2003 Server hosted in Tomcat 5.5. We use WinXP clients.
Reporter: Khai Do
Assignee: Yoav Landman
Priority: Critical
This issue is related to RTFACT-389.
I have have installed and been using Artifactory (ver 1.2.5) for about 6 months. I deployed it in Tomcat 5.5 on windows 2003 using the Artifactory DB. It worked great for a few months until our repository started getting really large. Our internal repository is about about 10 GB now and once it started getting up to this size the Artifactory DB started getting data corruption errors. Since then I've experienced data corruption in the DB a few times already. I do have backups setup to save to zip. However the zip files are also corrupted. I'm not sure if the data caused the corruption or if zips just do not scale to a certain size. The backup zip files are about 6 GB in size.
The only way i was able to restore my repository was to get the local repository off of our build machine and attempt to upload all of our internal libraries. This was not an easy task because libraries on the local repository are not organized like they are in the artifactory DB.
