Okay, just uploaded 7 files: arsperl_173_452.zip arsperl_174_452.zip arsperl_181_511.zip arsperl_181_601_unencrypted.zip arsperl_181_601_encrypted.zip arsperl_182_601_unencrypted.zip arsperl_182_601_encrypted.zip 1.73 was the oldest one I could find. I thought I had a couple others tucked away, but I guess I don't. Also, I just realized that the 1.82's probably shouldn't be included yet... we need to get that html directory added back in. Jarl is aware of it and should have it recompiled soon. When I get the new .ppd's from him, I'll test the installs and upload them. Jeff, will we be uploading past versions of ARSPerl to sf.net for others to download? I know I have a few of the compiled versions still laying around that I could send to you (or upload if I ever figure out how to do that... ;-) Matt -----Original Message----- From: Jeff Murphy [mailto:jcm...@je...] Sent: Tuesday, September 21, 2004 7:58 AM Cc: ars...@li... Subject: [Arsperl-devel] Re: ARSPerl and support for earrly versions.... the standard answer that we'll give is that we'll support the current release of ARsystem and one release behind (basically they same as Remedy does). that means 6.x and 5.x currently. at UB, we are still on 4.5, so obviously i'm going to make sure that ARSperl continues to work on that. if people have issues with revisions of ARsystem other than those that we officially support, the standard answer we give them should be "upgrade to a supported release of ARsystem". if by "support" you mean "have code in place that works for those systems" then at this time i'd oppose spending time on removing code in favor of focusing on 2.0 jeff On Tue, 2004-09-21 at 08:50 +0200, jar...@te... wrote: > Hi, > > Any thougts of decide how many versions of AR System ARSPerl should support? That sounds right to me, as well. As long as we also watch for patches to the API, which *occaisionally* come out... ;-) Currently, I know of no issues in using the arsperl for windows that was compiled using the 5.1.1 api against a 5.0.x server (in fact, I do it here all the time). The only thing that makes me wonder are the new field types (date only, time only, currency, etc...). I don't remember issues, per se, but there were questions on the list about implementing/coding for those field types (which, I think, arsperl doesn't currently support). Matt -----Original Message----- From: Jeff McCarrell [mailto:Jef...@Re...] Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 1:30 PM To: 'ars...@li...' Subject: RE: [Arsperl-devel] arsperl: more stuff for the list Well, I'm not sure. I guess we should make a policy decision about what version of the AR API we compile arsperl against. I would guess the right policy would be: ARSperl is compiled against the most recent released version of a particular code line. So for the 5.1.x release, that would be 5.1.2, not 5.1.1 Do we need a 5.0 build for folks who have not moved from 5.0 to 5.1.x? this is the devil in the details that I am not clear about. -- jeff -----Original Message----- From: Reinfeldt, Matt [mailto:Mat...@us...] Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 11:22 AM To: 'ars...@li...' Subject: RE: [Arsperl-devel] arsperl: more stuff for the list Sounds right to me. I think those three are all available on my site http://www.mattreinfeldt.com/downloads -> Remedy -> Freeware ... however, the one for 5.1.2 is actually compiled against the 5.1.1 API. Should Jarl recompile that one? Matt -----Original Message----- From: Jeff McCarrell [mailto:Jef...@Re...] Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 1:12 PM To: 'ars...@li...' Subject: RE: [Arsperl-devel] arsperl: more stuff for the list I guess when we figure out which pre-compiled binaries we need. I guess we would want 1 for the 5.1.2 server line, and the 6.0.1 server code line, I guess with encryption turned both off and on for the 6.x code lines. So that sounds like 3 binary builds to me. Are we agreed? -- jeff -----Original Message----- From: Reinfeldt, Matt [mailto:Mat...@us...] Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 11:01 AM To: 'ars...@li...' Matt -----Original Message----- From: Jeff McCarrell [mailto:Jef...@Re...] Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 12:19 PM To: 'ars...@li...' Subject: [Arsperl-devel] arsperl: more stuff for the list Release planning: I'd like to see us have some discussion and agreement about what "features" will get into the next release(s) and target dates for these. Doesn't have to be exhaustive, just something for we developers to synchronize around. Support for the unpublished upcoming 6.3 release of the AR system is an obvious feature for a future arsperl release Testing I'd like to see a test for every arsperl api call we support in the test suite Supported platforms I'd like to see us publish a statement about the supported versions of the Remedy API that a particular release of arsperl supports. E.g., for the upcoming 1.82, I think we should make the explicit statement that it supports the 5.x, and 6.0.x code lines. Builds / tests on supported platforms I'd like to see us have automated builds / test runs on the supported code lines. I have access to every released version of the remedy API, and with some planning, I might be able to get a couple of old machines that we could use to do regression testing against several versions of the API and running servers, at least on win32. The idea here is that I'd set up 5.1.2, 6.0, and 6.0.1 machines, and every time we have a commit to the repository, the code would get built and the tests run on all 3 of those machines. Release planning: I'd like to see us have some discussion and agreement about what "features" will get into the next release(s) and target dates for these. Thats all for now... -- jeff |

I committed the changes to support compiling on win32 early this week. If you get the current code from arsperl.sf.net, it should compile. I added a bit of stuff to simplify finding the libs to link against for win32 in Makefile.PL as well. We could do more on the *nix platforms along this line as well. I hesitated to do more... So I believe that the current code in CVS works against our stated supported Remedy release targets, i.e., 5.1.2 and 6.0.1. I have been running essentially this code in my apps here for several weeks without issue. Please inform this list if you find that not to be the case. -- jeff -----Original Message----- From: Reinfeldt, Matt [mailto:Mat...@us...] Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 8:25 AM To: 'ars...@li...' Jeff, I'll browse around. Did you put in that change Jarl made yesterday to enable it to compile on windows? Other than Quanah's patches, that's the only change I know of, so far. Subject: [Arsperl-devel] arsperl 1.82 i'm slowly getting the SF site in order. done project created cvs archive imported mailing lists created preliminary 'tracker' configurations todo move web pages to project dir import mailing list archives and move list adjust arsperl.org to point to sf site finish tracker configuration test CVS head tag head as 1.82 release 1.82 what i'd like from matt/jarl is an "OK" on the cvs code. given that, i'll tag it and release it. jeff has already committed patches to it and i just want the rest of the 'dev team' to OK them. i'd also appreciate it if someone examined the SF 'tracker' stuff and see how we can best configure it to track bugs and feature requests. possibly disable the 'patches' and 'support requests' trackers. it looks like you can add trackers, and within each tracker, you can define categories and groups. this is a little problematic because we cant easily have a user submit their API version, etc. you can do something like tracker=Bugs categories=compiling, installing, usage, documentation groups=1.81, 1.82 ? but we cant force them to select an api version. so i foresee a bit of "what api are you compiling against?" "what os?" type followup questions unless we try to do something like tracker=1.81-Bugs categories=compiling, installing, usage, documentation groups=linux+5.x, linux+6.0, windows+5.x, windows+6.0 i dont know. i dont see any graceful way of having the system gather the appropriate data for us. i'm open to suggestions. once we get all of the above tasks addressed, i'll send out the 2.x plan for discussion. jeff ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: YOU BE THE JUDGE.
