Dear Sir, My name is Jovana. I found your article extremely interesting and would like to spread the word for people from Ex Yugoslavia. Here's the URL of your article: http://arianne.sourceforge.net/engine/marauroa.html Would you mind if I translate your article to Serbo-Croatian language and post it on our site? My purpose is to help people from Ex Yugoslavia better understand some very useful information about computer science. Some quick info about myself: I was born in Yugoslavia, Europe. Former Yugoslavia consisted of now totally independent states like Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia & Hercezovina, Slovenia and Macedonia, which are all united by Serbo-Croatian language. I'm currently studying Computer Science at the University of Belgrade,Serbia. With Kind Regards, Jovana Milutinovich http://science.webhostinggeeks.com/ jo...@we... Tel: +381 63 8049100 |

I would like to ask whether it is possible that a player from other countries such as Russia or China could create an account and play Stendhal? They also have specific other than the Latin alphabet. The database shall adopt such letters? Marek Jaglarz Poland |

First of all I would like to say that I am a fan of your Stendhal game. I was wondering where you obtained the various graphics (players, tiles, objects, etc). I was thinking of developing something using isometric graphics and the ones displayed in this game seem prefect. Are these graphics free to use? I've seen other games that use these sprites. I have found a bunch of sites that list various graphics to use. I just thought I would see what you have to say, as I am looking for just one or a couple sites that have all the isometric graphics that I could use without limits or legal issues (copyrights, royaltys, etc). Thank you for your time. |

hi guys, I have great interest in helping the development of this game, does the game support for multi-language? Because many of my Asian friends like this game too. maybe I can do the translation into other languages for the game..... Japanese or Chinese. Fei :) |

Hi Klaus, Sorry, we cannot help you without any kind of error message. The ant run failing is mostlikly caused by an incomplete version of ant in the Debian package system. Just download it from http://ant.apache.org Yes, there is a compiled version and it is in the default file list in the download section at http://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=1111 So you don't even need to click on "Browse all files". Back then when i installed Stendhal Server for the first time, i followed the "Stendhal localhost server on Windows XP® - Visual Installation Guide Step-by-step" instructions although i am on Debian. But nowadays there are instructions for Linux based systems as well: http://arianne.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=Stendhal Again: If you have some problems, we need a in detail description of the problem to be able to help you. hi all I am a austrian student and for our project we search for a online multiplayer framework. We have found the arianne / marauroa open source mulitplayer framework. Now we want use this, (in the future we want also produce games for this) The problem is to install marauroa or compile it. I have downloaded the verison 2.1 I also read the wiki for the installing, but it does not work. At first i have problems to build it wit ant. Is there also compiled version available? Can somebody tell me how i can install the marauora framework with stendhal or jmpacman under linux debian. best regards klaus |

Hi all, Semos mines have been excavated deeper, producing new rocks and stones which were used to rebuild many tired looking buildings. All the citizens think it looks much better and even redecorated indoors as a result. However, digging the mines has opened up new passages and caverns ... they are no longer just the home of cute and cuddly kobolds, as here dwell the Chaos warriors! Also swarming the mines is a whole outpost of the Mithrilborough army, not to mention the mountain dwarves and a much, much, much greater beast. The mountain dwarves are famed blacksmiths - so all the creatures and monsters in Fauimoni traded in the things they fight with - clubs, armor and shields - for better versions. You may find that a monster drops something better than you expected - but he will not want to drop it often. The bridge to Fado is open! Discover the delights of the city known across the land as the home of celebrations - of good food and marriage. Find a pretty maiden with a quest for you, and learn about karma from a wizardess. Over in Nalwor, it is less peaceful. The dark elves are still making trouble, and the mayor needs your help. Do what he asks and a special protective prize will be yours. You can fear less from death - but remember, there are now many more who wish to take life from you. A thought on the AI of monsters. Rats are used for "road blocking" if you stop to fight, they will know "approximately" what direction you came from, and what direction you "may" venture off in, then they move to block your travel access where the stronger monsters will attack from the rear, and the archers (or Range attacking) from where they do now. Oh, and a BIG congratulations on who fixed the archers AI in the last few releases, I played a few days ago, and the archers will "back-off" if you try to get close, that was Fantastic, cause in a way, you had to chase them to get them. Maybe what could be implemented is a fenced area, that if you tried to gain access down the path between 2 fences, the Archers on either side will attack, but if you don't have arrown, then, you have nothing but your INT and DEF/DEX to protect yourself ;o) Now that Archers kind of works, (well, I cannot think of anything to improve it) you can take the next step of the following.. Arrows (working) Water balloons (festive time of the year) Rocks (those slings and rock that you whiz around your head and let go) Sling-shots Trebochets (mass launching catapaults ) Thats all for now ;o) |

I have maybe 3-4 FS's myself, 1 with me in my weapon of choice, and the rest in my bank locker :P If we go and ask players about Sword damage, they may say NO, if you tell them that the player DB is being reset, and the game world begins again, then you may loose players.. (Attack) (Adjacient cell attack) Attacker(DEX).Weapon(health).Attacker(weapon(skill)).Attacker(STR) vs. Defender(DEX).Armour(health).Defender(Shield(skill)).Defender(STR) If single Attacker, it is as above If multiple attackers, Each Attacker is as above, but Defender must be divided down against the number of attackers Defender(DEX) is divided among the attackers evenly, incorporating Defender(INT) will allow the defender to train a greater percentage of Armour against the stronger Attackers while being able to attack the weaker Attackers. For a defender to be able to attack multiple attackers, you need training in fighting skill, wapons skills/arts, and defensive training too, (this is coming from my Karate training where I'm a Black Belt) If the attack is blocked.. Attacker(STR%).Attacker(weapon(skill%)) against Shield(75%)/Armour(20%)/Weapon(5%) {SAW} The percentages for neutral Defender, you must train in each of the skills to keep the balance, or increase the skill in shielding so your other defenses don't de-rate de-rating of Items I feel this is needed, If a Sword hits a wooden club, the club should sustain damage by a mathematical factor of Attacker INT & DEX and Defenders INT & DEX, sustaining damage is what I'm terming as a "de-rating" value on a item, all items in pristene condition begin life at 100% A sword will not de-rate much against a wooden club, but if the defender is carrying a stone shield, then the sword will not be as effective. If the attacker is wielding Thors Hammer, then the wooden club may not de-rate very much, but the stone shield will. The upon Attack... Roll Defender(Int). Def(DEX). def(Armour(skill)) If found that a hit was made, then the Attackers formula comes into how much damage the Defender sustained If found to be a miss, calculate if the above SAW which sustained the "miss" or "hit"... a high "hit" score would be Attacker proficiency, and vise versa. If SAW sustained a "hit", which one was "hit" (Attacker blocked with Shield, Armour, Weapon) and de-rate tat item with a formula against the roll value, and the Attacker(weapon(health%)) A Firesword with say 2% health is still 100% better than a steel sword? I would say it would be closer to being equivalent to a wooden sword. So, in my thoughts, health, is not just the health of the player, but the health of his items too. Items can be repaired, but they never get it 100% right, say repairs can be in the range of 72-90%, and the next time its repaired, it gets the same rating, so 2x90% the 2nd repair, its only ~80% or therabouts... I'm thinking Integer Mathematics, FP maths gets tricky, also more bytes are needed for storage or how many decimal places? Ok, thats my 2cents :P |

Hi all, I am writting the proposal for a new RP system that will replace the one that we have now at Stendhal. http://arianne.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=StendhalRPProposal If you want to contribute and build a great system between we all that would be really cool. Hi all, As we are getting near Stendhal 0.60 and Marauroa 2.0, we need to think about the new RP that should appear there. I would love to listen to ideas about the RP, and help to extend them on Wiki, which danter began sometime ago. http://arianne.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=StendhalRefactoring#RP_System Also this change on the RP makes another problem to appear: top players :) IMHO we should reset database to make everything interesting again, as we have many top players right now that can kill a black dragon on their own. I would love to listen to ideas for both problems. Regards, Miguel _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
