Windows XP
Python 2.7.x
aria2 version 1.18.0

When using the GID override command to start a download that download will not be able to be re-accessed by the GID.

I have verified that the download is active. The output of the gid is equal to the gid I'm using to add the download.

Example:
gid = '6409359abcde0000'
rpc.aria2.addUri([magnet.magnet],{'dir':dir, 'seed-time':'0', 'gid':gid})

rpc.aria2.remove(gid)

    This didn't make it...

    xmlrpclib.Fault: <Fault 1: 'Active Download not found for GID#6409359abcde0000'>

    The magnet download involves 2 GIDs. The first GID, which is given by --gid option, is used for downloading BitTorrent metadata. Once it is completed, it is no longer active and new gid is generated and download for the contents itself begins. In order to know the 2nd gid, you can check the followedBy member of aria2.tellStatus with first gid.
