Gang: A "heads-up" that I've made a few changes to the install directories using autotools: * Changed the installation directory for header files from $includedir to $pkgincludedir. For a typical installation, this means that the Aqsis headers would be in /usr/include/aqsis instead of /usr/include. This seems to be common behavior, and makes good sense. * Changed the installation directory for plugins from $libdir to $pkglibdir. Again, this seems to be common behavior for packages that have plugins. * Changed the installation directory for shaders from $datadir to $pkgdatadir. So, /usr/share/aqsis/shaders instead of /usr/share/shaders. You can see that this makes good sense for anyone trying out different render engines, not that I'm encouraging such behavior, mind you ;) With these changes in place, I've created and submitted an Aqsis ebuild for Gentoo Linux. I understand it can be weeks before an ebuild is formally accepted into the distribution, so I've enclosed it for those who are interested - you will see that it is a very concise, high-level description of how to obtain Aqsis using anonymous CVS, configure, build, and install it. Once Aqsis 1.0 is out I'll create a similar ebuild that works from a specific snapshot. I discovered by accident that k3d has already been added to Gentoo, so with the Aqsis ebuild in place, Gentoo users will have a simple way to install the two packages and be up-and-running without further configuration.
