I am struggling to get apt-proxy 1.3.0 working on Woody. I have RTFM and =
scanned the mailing list but am still stuck.
My question is this: Do I have to do anything to "prime" the proxy server =
to start with?
My understanding of the documentation is that I don't, but I don't know =
why apt-proxy is
returning '404 is not serviced by this server' messages.=20
apt-proxy server sources.list contains:
deb http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian-non-US stable/non-US main contrib =
non-free
deb http://security.debian.org stable/updates main contrib non-free
apt-get update works OK as it returns:
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/main Packages
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/main Release
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/contrib Packages
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/contrib Release
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/non-free Packages
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/non-free Release
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/non-US/main Packages
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/non-US/main Release
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/non-US/contrib Packages
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/non-US/contrib Release
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/non-US/non-free Packages
Hit http://ftp.uk.debian.org stable/non-US/non-free Release
Hit http://security.debian.org stable/updates/main Packages
Hit http://security.debian.org stable/updates/main Release
Hit http://security.debian.org stable/updates/contrib Packages
Hit http://security.debian.org stable/updates/contrib Release
Hit http://security.debian.org stable/updates/non-free Packages
Hit http://security.debian.org stable/updates/non-free Release
I can also install new packages on the apt-proxy server, so I am assuming =
my sources.list is correct.
Debian client machine sources.list contains:
deb http://my_apt_proxy_server:9999/debian stable main=20
When I try to run apt-get update I get:

I have replaced the real hostname above with my_apt_proxy_server to =
protect the innocent!
On the proxy server, there is nothing under /var/lib/apt/lists starting =
with the servername - is this correct?
Thanks in advance,
John Housden
