#1 apt-proxy fails on non-linux OS

apt-proxy does not work with the system supplied
utilities on solaris (and probably any other non-linux
OS).

i had to install GNU date (for shellutils) and GNU dd
(from fileutils), install readlink (from the debianutils
package). and run the script with bash, because there are
a number of bashisms in the script that real /bin/sh's
don't grok.

it seems to work now, but hey, it would be so nice if that
thing would also run on other platforms without having to
install half a GNU box.
