Reopening all open applications is great. End users will also expect the last state of those applications to be preserved.
Reopens application and "files":
* MS Word
* MS Excel
* MS Powerpoint
Loads last session. Recreates windows and tabs and reloads pages.
* firefox
* IE

Unfortunately, it's very unlikely that this will be implemented for all applications.
The problem is, as far as I know, this is not really possible to do generically and may not even be possible at all in most cases.
I put in a gross hack to do it for the text editor that I used at the time (Metapad) and to detect the current folder displayed in explorer. But these are very special cases and it might even break for other versions of Metapad and Explorer.
If anyone knows how to implement it in general that would be fantastic.
If anyone knows how to implement it for some common applications that would be nice, too.
Sadly, I don't have the time or knowledge to figure it out myself for the infinitely many programs that exist. ;(
I vaguely suspect it could be possible to support Microsoft Office (/IE?) products via their automation APIs. I don't own or use Office though, so I won't implement this myself.
Firefox already has it's own session management, so it's not that critical IMO. Also, I have no idea how to get the currently opened tabs out of it.

Completely aware that it would only be possible, if the software vendor supplies an API to interact with the application. Like an alcholic lets takes things one application at a time. Make one driver per application.

This is why this project is open sauce. We need to just attract the talent. How does sourceforge enable putting out help requests?

Well then I suspect firefox just needs to be passed a few parameters and then it will open the last session. So research for this should be very straight forward.
Excel, Powerpoint, Word they all use OLE which should have lots of examples out there.
Again one at a time.
BTW add me to the project.

Dear rumzeus,
Found another similiar application that you might want to review the source code of. It's licensed BSD
http://www.codeplex.com/CacheMyWork
Have not tried it out yet.

Done.

That would be sweet.

That's what I suspected.

Looks nice! I don't have time to look at it closely at the moment though.

BTW, according to the webpage CacheMyWork doesn't (yet?) attempt to solve this problem either:
"CacheMyWork is only able to cache your applications, not their documents"

Just suggested looking at the CacheMyWork source code. I know it doesn't meet the appReaper project goals.

I looked and looked and the forums just say use Session Manager addon or set a parameter in firefox options box. But this doesn't solve our issue of forcing firefox to load the last session. Grrr...
