Okay, so the rand file is generated when you create a random batch (which I never do so there was no such file in my installation). The fact that that file doesn't exist shouldn't stop anything since it will generate a new one. It may be that there is some sort of permissions problem preventing the program from writing the file, though I can't think why that might happen. Similarly a permissions problem could prevent the program from reading the files in the plugins folder. Perhaps you could try...
I have exactly this problem on Windows 11 25H2 - no plugins found and a missing .rand file. I don't have an old .rand file to supply, and setting the path to the plugins in the Settings of the program doesn't help. Has it been solved yet?
I'm having the same problem for windows 10
i have the same problem
I have the same problem. can't figure whats up, im running windows 10
I've downloaded apophisy av, but I've a trouble, an access violation at certain address and apo ends immedately. Any suggestions on resolve this? Thanks. Lalla72
Hi, please may I ask you how many lines of integers should be in the apophysis .rand file? I heard that 1,000 was ok but after creating one I am getting error: "List index out of bounds (0)" ... which I assume relates to my .rand file? Any help much appreciated.

Sorry, I no longer have Win 10 so I can't offer much useful advice. Perhaps if you gave details of the error messages we might be able to figure out what's going wrong.
Clicking on the 64-bit version EXE file causes access violations in Windows 10.
You're welcome but I could be wrong. :D
Thanks IXix! :-)
I don't think it uses anything extremely modern so it probably works on pretty much any Windows, maybe as far back as XP. I'd guess it would probably work fairly well under WINE on Linux too but I've never had cause to try.

Curious what SPECIFIC operating systems this will work with? Will this run on much older Windows systems?
The windows (editor, adjustment etc) sometimes get lost.
Glad you got it working. I don't know enough about it to offer advice on rendering but there's probably a lot of info at DeviantArt and maybe on YouTube too.
In the end i restored the system and it "solved" the issue. Unfortunately even disabling this kind of error notification for specified programmes from user panel didn't work. strange! Thankyou very much for your help. Would you be also so kind as to let me know how to tweak rendering settings for the best quality outcome? I am new to this :) I was wondering how to get print-worthy results, as there's a gift I'd like to make for a big print 70 x 70 cm kind of

I sometimes get those when opening a flame so perhaps it's because it's trying to load the last flame you worked on? If you can handle it, there's a registry key that specifies that filename so you could try clearing that. The key is 'HKEY_USERS\YOU\Software\Apophysis AV\Defaults\LastOpenFile' but the 'YOU' will be a load of gibberish numbers and letters so I can't tell you exactly what it will be. You can find it by searching for "Apophysis AV" repeatedly in the Registry Editor. A reinstall might...
When I click on the exe file to launch it I get a pop up that prevents me from doing so :'( what is this? I downloaded the file once, tested it and it was working great, then accidentally deleted it, re-downloaded and now i can't open it anymore
AFAIK there isn't a help file for AV yet. The one from 7x is probably about 80% relevant though, so I copied that to the AV folder and renamed it "Apophysis AV.chm".
I have downloaded v 1.0.2.0, the 64 bit version. If I press F1 or go to Contents in the Help menu, it says The file does not exist. How does one get the help file?
No activity for five months. I hope you've just been too busy.
If I try launching Apophysis AV 1.0.2 it says the file "ApophysisAV_64.rand" is missing. I coiped the one from the older version of Apophysis and renamed it and it now launches OK apart from complaining about the missing plugins. If I ignore the missing .rand file dialog and launch then it doesn't load any of the flames on the left. If I try to do anything it complains that it can't save the .rand file. I tried it on an older PC running Windows 10 and I get the exact same thing. I will play around...
I don't know what you mean by the .rand file, there aren't any files like that in my installation. As for not finding plugins, are the paths set properly in the settings->environment tab? I don't remeber whether I had to set those manually or not.
I tried a new download and made sure it wasn't blocked before unzipping. I did the same as you and extracted it to the Program Files folder and named it Apophysis AV. Same problems with it not finding the plugins or the ApophysisAV_64.rand file. I ended up taking the .rand file from an old version of Apophysis 7 and renaming it. That fixed the .rand issue and after dismissing the error dialogs, it does at least now run. Thanks for the help.
Thanks for that info. I am wondering if the problem I am having is with the download. Thinking about it, I have had a problem in the past where a file didn't extract all of the files because of some flag on the downloaded file. I need to try and find out what that was again and try again. Fingers crossed that is it.
Sure, the files are in "C:\Program Files\Apophysis AV" (I got rid of the version number) and the version is 1.0.2 on the zip file, or 1.0.2.0 according the the about box. I didn't have to do anything unusual to get it working, just extracted the zip to my program files folder and made some shortcuts. No compatibility fiddling or any of that nonsense. Perhaps you're missing a Microsoft runtime package? I don't know if they're needed for Delphi stuff. I expect Alice would be better able to answer ...
Thanks for responding. Can I ask you where you have the files on your machine, and if the version you are using is Apophysis AV 1.0.2?
Sorry, I don't know what the problem is but I can tell you it works fine on Win11 here, both 32 and 64bit versions.
Hi, I just bought a new PC and am trying to get Apophysis AV to work on it. When I first launch it I get a long list of missing plugins (check64.dll etc) and it can't find the .rand file either to generate the random images. I also get a repeating error about an Access violation both before the splash screen and after. I have tried all three versions of the program. Am I doing something wrong, is there something missing from the download, or does it just not work under Windows 11? Do I need to place...
Made with Apophysis AV should anyone be interested... https://youtu.be/LxN85mwfUFQ Thanks Alice for keeping this wonderful software alive.
thank you for getting back to me so quickly, I would love to see more videos. I am loving this program. Thanks for continuing this project! Your suggestion worked perfectly! Thanks again.

Your Apophysis branch is really great, though it is not as popular as the classic 2.09 and 7X versions. Therefore, I could not allow this wonderful app to be completely forgotten. This was one of the components of the meaning that I put into the concept of "Phoenix": to revive the lost Apophysis features by including them into a new software branch. I added your name to the Apophysis Copyright list in all modules that use functions from Mods JK branch in one or another way. I'm sorry I didn't do...
It is difficult to say why this error occurs. These messages only indicate that the application is unable to read some data necessary for its operation. Personally, all Apophysis AV versions work stably for me (except for Scripter which is fully functional only in 1.02). But if you downloaded version 1.01 earlier than the latest, some default settings are probably lost. Two versions of the same program may not be compatible with each other because they share the same keys in the system registry....
HI Alice, I am loving the app, I down loaded the 10.2 and i keep getting these pop ups with access violation, at address, with different codes, this happens about 12 times, then when it does finally open, I cannot open any world empty or random. Are you familiar with this at all? if I try to do anything after this it just locks up. I have no problem with 10.1, except the little pesky TMS scripter, which is no big deal. I just noticed there were a few additions in the 10.2 version. thanks for your...
I have to second Xyrus02's thanks for keeping the Apophysis software moving forward. (My time has been severely limited over the last decade or so, and I haven't had a working Delphi compiler since Turbo Delphi Explorer 2006 on Windows XP...) I'm glad to see a number of the experimental features I was playing with in Apophysis Mods JK have been incorporated into this version, as well. (I was afraid they had fallen by the wayside, since I haven't been able to get back to the project for so long.)...

Hmm, I tested Apophysis 7X and found that versions after 15B behave exactly the same when resizing the Editor window, and the previous ones simply hide all toolbuttons that do not fit. In any case, this is not good, so in the new release of Apophysis AV, the toolbar will automatically adjust to the current width of the Editor window in the same way as it is done for the main application window (see preview). This will help prevent the problems you are facing.
Aha, thanks for the response and screenshot! I think what happened is that my editor window was too narrow, and that hid/collapsed half of the row of buttons, for some reason. That confused me, as that doesn't happen when resizing the editor in Apophysis 7X.
Hello Chris. I didn't change the order of the Transform Editor's toolbar buttons, just added some new ones on the right side. So button you are looking for is in the same place (it is the button with a small green letter F). You can also add final transform using a one-line script: Flame.FinalXformEnabled := True;
Hi, I've been trying out this new version, and I noticed that some of the settings have moved compared to 7X. I was wondering, where is the Add/Toggle Final Transform button? I can't seem to find it, unfortunately. So far, the only way I can find to get a final transform is to A.) import parameters that already include one, or B.) use one of the included scripts that create one. Thanks!
I'm glad you liked it! I hope to find time next week to record the second part of my video instruction for the application, to clarify some parts of the text description.
Thanks Alice! Very excited to see what's new in this build!
Added transform syncronization, an animation module and made the app work faster

The programming language used in the scripts doesn't really matter, since variable names and operators are just wrappers around native Delphi methods. All you need is a virtual machine that interprets the text written by the user into a sequence of executable commands. The "TMS Scripter Studio" supports many different languages (including C++ and Visual Basic) and has a few additional components that you can do without, that's why it's so expensive. As far as I know, the "Pascal Script" engine is...
Great, thanks!
Ah I see. Thought perhaps it could have been something that only shows up on non-dev sytems, like when the user doesn't have the right MS redistributable installed or similar. I've never really done anything with scripting in Apophysis. Could this paid solution perhaps be replaced with Python or LUA integration? Just a thought, I have no idea how that stuff works.
Thanks, already fixed. This will not appear in the next Apophysis release.
I know, but at the moment I can't get rid of it. Unfortunately, I do not have enough money for a licensed version of TMS Scripter. I'm trying to raise funds to purchase through user donations.

Good to know, thanks! I'll give it a whirl when I've got fewer things demanding my attention. I've only had a couple of brief sessions but I like the improvements you've made so far and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you might do.
Hello Phil! Thanks for your feedback. The source code for Apophysis AV can be compiled in any version of Delphi starting from 10.1. In addition, you will need to install third-party libraries such as TMS Scripter Studio and XML Parser. Download links for these components can be found in the "About Apophysis" window.
Hi! Can this be built with the free Delphi Community Edition, or any other free tools for that matter? I don't know Delphi/Pascal at all, just C variants and a bit of Python but I've often wanted to try building Apo. Very glad to see someone keeping it going. I was beginning to worry. Phil
Thanks for the offer to help, but I think the only way to understand anything is to do it all alone. Since I took on the development, I have to do everything myself. As I promised, the source code is uploaded along with the new Apophysis AV version. The release took place a month later than planned, because, as it turned out, my first source project still contained several (non-obvious) bugs and memory leaks inherited from previous Apophysis branches. To publish it without solving these problems...

Hi Alice, thanks for your reply. The commitment of sharing the code is a positive signal, and I'm looking forward to seeing the contributions as written code soon. If you like, I can help with cleaning up the repository and give some general guidance on the usage of Git as a tool, which makes backup files mostly unnecessary. Best Xyyrus02
First, I want to thank you! Without your project's source code, I would not have been able to create a new version of Apophysis. And, better than anyone else, I understand how important source code is to understanding how an application works (and why it sometimes doesn't work as expected). Therefore, the source code will be uploaded definitely. But I'm not ready to do it right now. The fact is that I am not a professional developer (ApophysisAV is the first application I've ever compiled in my life),...
Hello, first of, thank you for continuing on this great software and adding value additions to it for the community to use. Contributors like you keep the scene alive. I would only like to ask you to share the source code of your fork in accordance to the GPL terms your software is subject to. Since I assume you forked from 7X, you can find the license terms here: https://github.com/xyrus02/apophysis-7x/blob/master/LICENSE Furthermore, you should provide a copy of the license terms in your project...
