Paw, I haven't seen this myself... but my first suspision would be that = you've made the second content type by copying some aspects of the PDL = file from the first ?? or at least it looks like you are getting a = namespace clash here.=20 One thing to check therefore is that the namespaces of the two content = types (both in terms of tables etc in the PDL files and in the Java = classes themselves) are not clashing. Because the WAF framework 'merges' = packages it is quite possible to have such a clash go undetected during = the build phase.=20 Just my 2p. Oli ---- Oli Sharpe Go Meta 07768 815101 |

When creating a new application using the Aplaws+ Beta Release of February 2004 and creating new content types in this application the ccm load (without option or specifically with the --schema option) fails with the following error message: > 2004-02-26 10:13:35,602 [ main] INFO packaging.Loader - Loading schema for edemocracy >Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: no such file: [application]/oracle-se-create.sql > at com.arsdigita.installer.SQLLoader.load(SQLLoader.java:54) > at com.arsdigita.installer.SQLLoader.load(SQLLoader.java:36) > at com.arsdigita.loader.PackageLoader.load(PackageLoader.java:99) > at com.arsdigita.packaging.Loader.loadSchema(Loader.java:89) > at com.arsdigita.packaging.Load.run(Load.java:315) > at com.arsdigita.packaging.MasterTool.main(MasterTool.java:90) The Ant deploy job do create the required and valid SQL to create the table and constraints for a content type, but they are located and named as: > [application]/build/sql/[application]/ddl/oracle-se/create.sql > [application]/build/sql/[application]/ddl/oracle-se/deffered.sql > [application]/build/sql/[application]/ddl/oracle-se/drop-constraints.sql > [application]/build/sql/[application]/ddl/oracle-se/drop-tables.sql > [application]/build/sql/[application]/ddl/oracle-se/table-[table-name]-auto.sql Executing the table-[table-name]-auto.sql and deffered.sql manually create the required structure and afterwards doing ccm load with the --config and --data option succed loading the application, whereas a ccm load wihtout options or ccm load with the --schema options now fails because the table already exists Paw Hammerlund Andersen Principal Consultant, http://www.net2s.com |

Content type attribute names across PDL-file, content-type class and autheringkit steps are case sensitive. The examples of the documentation for content type creation in the CMS developer guide distributed with Aplaws+ Beta release of February 2004 seems to have case conflicts so keep a straight line on casing when e.g. assigning names to the static Strings as suggested in the examples. Hopefully a usefull information that is not yet in the documentation of the Aplaws+ Beta release: Creating a new content type on the Aplaws+ Beta release of February 2004 extending the existing content-types and using the standard create component that is included none of the attributes that you add to the new content-type can be required (e.g. having a cardinality of [1..1] in the PDL file) as the cretion component will persist the content-item in the creation component and therefor come with an error before going to the AutheringSteps that you provide. You therefore have to leave the cardinality to e.g. [0..1] if you want to use the following autheringsteps to let the user assign the values or create your own create-component. In build an application using the Aplaws+ Beta distribution from Ferbuary 2004 the PDL file for a new content type are not place correctly by the provided Ant deploy task and you get the following error message when trying to load the application: > 2004-02-19 14:19:48,227 [ main] INFO packaging.Loader - Running initializer com.net2s.edemocracy.cms.contenttypes.CouncillorInitializer > Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalStateException: edemocracy.pdl.mf: 6: no such resource 'com/net2s/edemocracy/cms/contenttypes/Councillor.pdl' > at com.arsdigita.persistence.pdl.ManifestSource.parse(ManifestSource.java:94) > at com.arsdigita.runtime.PDLInitializer.init(PDLInitializer.java:69) > at com.arsdigita.runtime.CompoundInitializer.init(CompoundInitializer.java:97) > at com.arsdigita.runtime.CompoundInitializer.init(CompoundInitializer.java:97) > at com.arsdigita.runtime.Startup.run(Startup.java:215) > at com.arsdigita.packaging.Loader.loadData(Loader.java:109) > at com.arsdigita.packaging.Load.run(Load.java:341) > at com.arsdigita.packaging.MasterTool.main(MasterTool.java:90) A work arround is manully to copy the file to the directory of the class files (Contenttype, Initiliazer and Loader) for that content type. This will then enable loading the content type. You then subsequently have to remember copying the file again when changes have been mae to the PDL file . The list of issues I sent was one we've compiled and circulated internally over the last while. I put it up on this mailing list today as we'd had a meeting with developers from another organisation who had hit several of the same problems. I'd included the urls for bugzilla so that people can check on the current status of a bug if they run into something similar, (or have in the past). And also to kickstart this list again. :) I can't find a reference to CCM_SCRIPTS_COMPAT in any of the current docs so I'll put that in bugzilla too. Look forward to the 2nd beta. cheers steve -----Original Message----- From: Daniel P. The following are some of the issues I encountered on installing APLAWS+ (December and January releases) and whilst developing 2 very basic content types. Installation Scripts are not backwards compatible ccm-profile fails for CCM 5.2 projects. This means that two different development machines are required if a developer needs to work on CCM 5.2 and APLAWS-2 Quick install fails on Redhat Linux 8 See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=110409 A red hat representative says that they didn't expect it to work on anything other than RH Enterprise Edition AS. It is disappointing that the system has a dependency on Red Hat. However the quick install is not essential. Full install fails due to ccm-profile not exporting the classpath See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=110573 This bug now appears to be fixed. After installing, got server 500 no class def found This was a result of an incorrect project.xml file, which is poorly documented See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=110585 Installation tools can fail and create inconsistent DB that tools are unable to repair See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=110923 If this happens the user needs some database expertise and previous CCM experience to recover from this problem. RPMs fail to install for December-1 release See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=111803 ccm load-aplaws has disappeared (but is still documented) See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=111888 This was simply that the aplaws-util rpm was missing from the December-5 release page. Starting again after a failed ccm load December-1 release If ccm load fails, it is necessary to drop the schema by hand (unpack the ccm-core-*sql.jar and run the drop all script), and also delete the registry.properties file from $CCM_WEB_HOME/conf This was undocumented. NoClassDefFoundException See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=115808 The WAF installation guide says that the command ccm hostinit [options] should not be run when installing for development. However, when I install the aplaws bundle and start the server, I get a NoClassDefFoundException for com.arsdigita..BaseServlet. ccm hostinit solves this problem After install get a Server 404 Error See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=115809 When trying to view the homepage, I get this error: 404 /ccm-cdn-portal/files/ was not found on this server Everything else seems to work ok. Going into the root webapp and copy 'web.xml-aplaws' to 'web.xml' solved it. Documentation Enterprise.init.in under documented See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=110503 WAF and CMS Configuration documentation incomplete See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=110504 Documentation Errors Eg https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=111991 Documentation recommends using deprecated class See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=112526 Development Persistence Build Environment is buggy See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=112414 This is a very obscure bug that first manifested itself as errors running ccm load passed from Oracle. Ant runtests target fails See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=112144 This means that the automatic tests cannot be run. SQL Directory Gotcha It is not necessary to have any hand-written SQL. All SQL can be generated by the PDL utility. However, a SQL directory must exist for the project to build, and it must be non-empty in order to create rpms. See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=116123 SQL Generation I am using pdl which only defines the attributes of the class, and which the PDL generator then uses to create the DDL sql. So I am not writing an SQL at all. Now ccm load is failing and telling me that it can't find <mycontent-type>/oracle-se-create.sql Now that file normally only contains something like @@/oracle-se/ddl/create.sql so I would expect that to be generated along with the ddl. See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=116132 Content Types Documentation contains numerous errors. Eg https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=111991 Documentation is too sparse. Gives the minimum code, but not the typical framework. Nothing about manifests, about deferred creation of constraints. Nothing about .pdl.mf or content item loaders and initializers. Build does allow XSL style-sheet to be read See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=112301 Existing content types use deprecated class See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=112527 This means that existing types should not be used as models for creating new ones. It is also a little worrying as the class was probably deprecated for a reason. CCM_SCRIPTS_HOME is set wrong See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=116343 Creating a content type on the fly See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=112147 If you create a content type dynamically, after the server is restarted, it becomes unusable.. The DB needs to be dropped, losing all data, and all the packages reloaded again. |

Is there any documentation on the format of .load files? I'm mainly interested in the value of the directory attribute of the schema tag. Any info on .load .config .pdl.mf the .xml files that are in typical content-type jars (looks like one xml for meta info to display and one for detailed display of the item...) would be appreciated. thanks Steve |

1. Does anyone know this for APLAWS+? (Ideally, we'd like 4 tables = showing oracle/postgreSQL with linux/windows.) 2. Hardware scaling: Any idea of when we would need to start thinking = about more Application machines/Web Servers to cope with increased = traffic? Thanks, Chris |

Has anyone set up eclipse for the december-5 release? The instructions in WAF developer's guide are outdated - all the directory structure has changed. Also the sources are now zipped and in /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES. What should I set as the project directory? Do I need to unzip the sources? thanks Steve |

Dan, Deleting the registry.properties did the trick. Its under the $CCM_WEB_HOME/conf steve -----Original Message----- From: Daniel P. That's odd. Somewhere there should be a file called 'registry.properties' I thought it would be /usr/share/ccm/conf. > > I notice that the 'importer' and 'themes' rpms are no longer on the > december-5 downloads page. Does that mean I should uninstall them (rpm -e, > delete from project.xml and ...?) before trying ccm load-aplaws again? Those two packages aren't part of the standard APLAWS WS1 project - just custom code for Camden, so I've moved them elsewhere. Best to uninstall for sake of having a known starting point.
