Hi, I've just finally managed to download 3.2.0 on my Imac running High Sierra. I can't run the normal package down load says it's damaged, I've down loaded it several times I've tried the bypasses that are supposed to let me open it. I've also down loaded the non install version, the whole folder is in the Applications folder, it will let me open the .jar file I get the splash screen the main page breafly flashes then disapears all I get is the Java coffee cup logo showing in the dock and ArtOfIllusion showing top left of the screen with just the About and Prefs pull down, I've also uploaded the latest Java via your site even though I already have the Sun systems V8 Java on the system.
Thanks for reporting. lets see if we can get this figured out.
.dmg, did you move the.appto your applications folder? It won't work from inside the mounted.dmg. If so, double-check thatSystem Preferences->Security & Privacy panelhas the option to allow applications from "anywhere" checked. When it comes to the non-install version, some troubleshooting steps:
aoi.shlauncher script?java --version(I want to see what version of java your system is using by default)java -jar ArtOfIllusion.jar./aoi.shLast edit: Luke S 2021-01-27
I downloaded a fresh App file. removed the App and put it in the Applications folder, clicked to launch still the same damaged file alert, I also tried Ctrl/clicking the file as per Apple's instructions for opening unauthorised apps. I searched the net and found that in Terminal if I typed in "sudo spctl --master-disable" I got the anywhere button back, but still got damaged file alert trying to launch the app. I wouldn't know how to run the aoi.sh script, I'm not that tech savy, sorry.

Right Click-> Open with... ->Terminal
For the terminal commands: Thanks for the version information...
It appears that you were not in the correct directory for the other two commands. The terminal needs to be in the AoI directory.
pwdin the terminal. If it does not display the path of the AoI directory, use thecdcommand to move yourself to that directory.I diidn't have much luck with the Terminal finding the files, I'm not versed in using Terminal, I tried both versions of AOI the app version just the App its self and the . jar which is in the uninstall folder also in the application folder.
But I ran the aoi.sh script via Terminal and the programe opened, I've added the terminal info for you, lots of illegal things happening, but if I closed Terminal the programe closed as well?

Sorry for causing confusion:
pwdwas supposed to be a command on it's own. It would display what directory the terminal was operating in. Nevermind, as the last version that you posted works to launch the application.Never mind them, they're on the list to get fixed and don't affect current versions of Java (They're warnings for the future)
Yup. This is normal, as the application is running as a child of the terminal.
Now, the terminal output from the last version is interesting. Couple of highlights:
/usr/bin/java -Xmx1500m -cp /Applications/ArtOfIllusion/ArtOfIllusion.jar:/Applications/ArtOfIllusion/gluegen-rt.jar: artofillusion.ArtOfIllusionmeans that you are running an older version of the startup script...???java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: com.apple.eawt.Application.setEnabledAboutMenu(boolean)was also fixed some time ago.I think that you don't have the 3.2.0 no-install. Please check that you have the actual latest, downloaded from this page.
Did you get your download links from our website, or from a third party? If third party, what site?
Hi Luke, interesting, I uploaded 3.2.0 uninstall version that you suggested, not sure why I had the earlier version, I thought I got it straight off the Sourceforge website. I’m now able to open the program from the .jar file no problem now, the first time I launched it I got a notice asking me if I want to open the program.
Also while following the online tutorial I downloaded the plugins manually as suggested since the auto download didn’t seem to be working, a couple I couldn’t download they showed as program files in the browser and not as download files to my desktop?
I do however have one last problem that the icons that should be above each of the four windows are missing? is there a way to correct this?
Thank you for all your help and patience.
Les

#508Which plugins? Can you launch from terminal and try again? (There will probably be some output in the terminal window if something goes wrong.)
What browser/version? That sounds like it was trying to do a "Web Start" which is a very old/unsupported thing, and not the correct thing for these files at all...
The control-icons for each view are actually provided by a plugin,
DisplayModeIcons. What you have in your screenshot is correct for vanilla, unmodified AoI.
